Angry 1999 2.3 CL - Venom 400 chip problems.

Hello everyone,

I have a question concerning the Venom 400 performance chip. I have a 1999 2.3 CL, and installed the Venom chip about a year ago. However, it seems to continually make my engine light come on every couple of weeks. My mechanic told me the code for the engine light was a V-Tech malfunction and has reset the computer in my car about 3 times. Basically the Venom chip keeps turning my V-Tec off, and putting my car in a standby mode! I've recently taken it out, and the problems have stopped. When I called Venom, they told me that they haven't had any similar problems with their other units, and that I should send my unit in for inspection. Before I do that, has anyone else experienced this, or does anyone know why, or any fixes for it?

Thanks for your time.

I would just keep it off your car. The consensus on the board seems to be that it doesn't do anything for the car anyways.

If a modification messes up your car you should take it off and figure out what is going on. So apologize to your car, and move on.
