18" Wheels + Eibach Sportline

I know that the whole spring / suspension topic has been beat to death but.. This weekend I'm hoping on lowering my car and I wanna go for the Eibach Sportlines (1.7" drop) but I have 18" Alba Blaze wheels and I was wondering if anyone else has this combo or at least a drop this big with 18" wheels.

Just wanna make sure I don't rub.

I have Kumha 225/40's

If you wheels are 45mm offset you should be alright. I'm down over 2" on 18's and haven't rubbed yet.

My wheels come in 21 and 42 mm offset, I'm not sure which one I have though (PhatCL you out there?!). Is there some way I can tell?

You think they'd be alright if they were 42mm? I'm guessing 42 because if your's is 45 then I'm thinking mine's prolly 42.

If they are 42mm then they will stick out 3mm more than 45mm (closer to your fender) you should still be alright but it will be close.

Hey Clpower,

If you get a camber kit won't that push your wheels even closer to your fenders? That's why I haven't gotten one yet, cause I'm afraid it will rub.

A camber kit would just make it rub more by straightening the wheels. I really don't think you need one with eibach's. By the way the sportlines are more than a 1.7" drop, that"s the pro kit.

Yes that is what I have been told too. I thnk it is because our cars sit higher. But I was told by an installer that is only 1.7 and 1.3 with the pro kit

I have 18"s on mine. I have the Eibach Pro-kit. No rubbing anywhere. You don't need a camber kit.

i have 17's with almost 4 iches dropped and no rubbing. i believe the rubbing issues are more contigent on the tires and not the wheels. granted, bigger wheels make a difference, but in our case we have fairly large wells, so the tires will help.

for example... tires can add anywhere from 2 to 8 inches depending on the sidewall.

and dont forget, its not only the 2nd number in a tire size (225/40/18) that matters. yes, the second number is the size of the sidewall, but dont forget it is a percentage of the width of the first number, which is the width of the top of the tire. so 205/40's will be lower than 225/40's, even though they are both 40's. anyway, thats my .02. lates!
