16" to 18"

I have 18x7.5 and stock is 16x6, and have 215/35 tires,so this makes the wheel and tire smaller then stock. If that is true then wouldn't this give a better take off with the 18's. Ive just read some other posts and people keep saying that 18's will sslow you down, most aftermarket wheels will probably be lighter then stock, atleast in silver not chrome.

Actually when I rotated my tires this weekend I weighed my 18x7.5's (with 225/40) and my factory wheels/tires.
Turns out my chrome 18's are only 1.5lbs heavier than my factory wheels/tires.

The stock wheel/tire combo is pretty hefty. The 205/55 16 tire itself weighs about 22 lbs and the stock rims aren't that light at roughly 20 lbs. They feel noticeably heavier than my Subaru's factory 16x6.5" wheels (16 lbs) with 205/55 16 tires (22 lbs).

Tires usually get lighter as you go up in rim diameter because well, there's less tire. Unfortunately, the wheel weight goes up as they get bigger.

A rough estimate is that for every extra pound at the wheel/tire is akin to carrying another 20 lbs onboard. Acceleration, braking, cornering, and ride will all suffer.
