shouldn't be any more than $200. I got mine done together with PS & brake fluid, oil, filter, brake job and some other minor stuff for $200 (The mechanic is a friend of the family.)

While you're there, look into changing spark plugs/ wires/ cap/rotor. They are easy to do so i suggest you do these yourselves. I did mine and the car idles SOOOO much better (no surging/ tach jumping).

Also there's valve clearance and timing...

If you have a 3.0 or any AT then i suggest getting a tranny cooler installed. easy to do and will prolong the autotragic's life a bit.

I am not trying to say i am an expert casue i am not....

but from the research i have been doing for the 100k tune up the costs are ALOT more the $200...the stealership quoted well over $1000 to do it....but even if you go somewhere else it would be much more then $200( i guess unless you have a family friend to hook it up)- I was told the belt and water hose are extremely difficult in our engines to change...and the cost is in the labor, not parts....

as i said i might not know what i am talking about...but i am right at 100k myself and am starting to look into doing the major tune-up but i am thinking of having to spend closer to a grand not $200

please prove me wrong because i will be very happy if i am wrong!

its well worth it to put the money into these engines because you know they will least another 100k! especially if you have a manual and don’t have to worry about the auto going dead on you

When i got my car done i got the timing belt package, witch includes the timing belt, water pump and drive belts. The bill came to about $950 but i was able to talk them down to around $500 because of some miscommunication between me and the dealership. The parts were around $250 and the rest was labor.

Also there was a recall for my 97 3.0cl (other years my be included) in witch i got the spark plugs, wires, rotor and cap replaced for free.

Like i said, the mechanic is a long time friend of the family. I bought the parts (belt, hoses, etc) needed cheap from the internet and have him installed/serviced everything for $200.

I did the other stuff like starter, spark plugs, wires, cap, rotors, rear brake rotors/pads.....myself so i saved a lot of money.

Another thing, Vietnamese shops are cheaper than almost every other shop...

More than $200
your labor cost alone may be over $200.

What is the bare minimum you should do? I recently just hit 90k so i've got to think of a tuneup soon.

Tune up, plugs and wires at the minimum, maybe change your tranny fluid and coolant flush. Timing belt you don't have to do that early
