'01 MDX Steering Wheel

Hey everyone,

New member making his first post here. First off I own a '97 2.2 CL. I've come across an '01 MDX steering wheel with the airbag included. I've done some searching on the forum regarding this topic but most of the others got theirs without the airbag and had to swap the '98 CL airbag in.

So basically what I'm asking is, would the MDX wheel + MDX airbag be able to fit into the '97 CL without any problems?

As long as it fits the steering wheel, you should be fine. Just make sure that it's a 1 stage airbag and not a 2 stage. I don't believe the 2 stage bags came around till 2003 or so though.

the reason the 97's have to switch the air bag with the 98-2003 (or up) air bag is because the 97 is a one year air bag and will not fit the steering wheel of newer model cars. The 98-up ait bags do fit the newer steering wheels so if you are getting the wheel and the air bag it should be plug and play (for lack of a better term). I installed a 2001+ CLS steering wheel in my 97 and had to change the air bag for this reason I mentioned but if I had a 98 up CL I could have used the original without any problems

Thanks for the responses guys, appreciate the help.

Also to add, for anyone who has installed the MDX wheel, is it noticeably bigger than the CL wheel? Wouldn't want a big bulky steering wheel in a 2-door car.

Nope, not any bigger, but definitely has better grips. At least my CL-S wheel does
