Last night i was at the local track getting in some runs my car is still a little slow the best i can do in a 8th is 10.2 at like 71 mph (with full interior spare tire and 2- 15's in the trunk) but a guy came up to me and told me he had seen my car before he was a mechanic at the acura dealer i go to.
He was telling me something about an EGR valve upgrade or recall or something they done not too long ago on the first gens replacing something with a tube and a bunch of stuff i couldnt quite catch on to??? he said mine hasnt been switched yet and i need to get it done. He said i am probably losing a lot of power by not having it switched..
Have any of yall heard of this or had this done to your car i think he said it was under the emissions warranty?????

No, I haven't gone in yet for the warranty repair. So far, I've had no troubles.

 

I KNEW WHEN IT WAS TIME FOR ME TO GO IN BECAUSE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULDNT GO OFF

 

I brought mine in a few weeks ago for this... Not because anything was wrong- because of the free plugs, wires, etc... I was driving 1000 miles a week for almost a year so i managed to fit into the 75-150k range... I didn't hear anything about an EGR valve upgrade though; Oh and i got a free car wash!

 

This was big news over the summer.......i remember having to wait 4 weeks for a new EGR valve, cuz it was on nation wide back order.
Any of you who haven't gotten their shit replaced should make an appt asap it's all free.

 

Incase anybody wants to know... it appears to only be for the 3.0's... ~INFO~

 

i have a 98, should i not worry about this? i noticed on the letter it said 95, 96, 97.

I wonder why it only says 3.0? I received a notice in the mail last summer. Too bad I paid 300+ dollars in 2000 to get the egr cleaned out.

 

I havent' had any problems either, knock on wood. Then again, I am constantly makin sure everything is aiight with my whip.

 

I have been in twice for emissions related repairs all free of course except for a diagnostic to find why my throttle was surging by itself. My EGR was replaced last month and my air control valve was just replaced two days ago. Your check engine light will come on if it is the EGR valve. Overall I had no problems with any wait or anything so you should be fine.

 

so should i get it done asap or just wait until i get a CEL or 75,000 so i can get the other stuff free! whichever comes first!

 

Hey guys, thanks for the info. I'm running a check right now on my Vin. Cause my Check engine Light came on the same time my tranny broke down. My uncle helped me turn of fthe Check Engine light before I brought it in for a new tranny. So not really sure if i need to change that out or it was caused by the tranny. But running the check anyways to be sure.

 

Pretty brave resetting the CEL w/o finding out what the problem is.

haha, well my uncle is a mechanic. I never asked him what was the check engine light about, but now that this thread came up. Getting me kinda worried. But i guess i could always look up my Vin # and see if it was fixed before I got my car. I did that Email thing they had on that Acura site. So hopefully they reply to me.
