thoughts on 'change battery light"

11 mdx with 57k miles now. the change battery light comes on, it stays on but eventually goes away (it looks like it goes away after i drive a bit at 60mph). Otherwise, car runs great with no issues. this also happened about 1 month ago, but I charged the battery overnight, disconnected battery, reconnected and light was not on at that time.

any suggestions? Should I go to autozone to get the battery checked?

thanks!

OEM battery?

I just changed out my OEM battery last month on my 11 MDX with a little under 70,000 miles on her. This was the longest an Acura OEM battery lastest in my experience with my TSX and RDX (both of those failed in about 3-4 yrs). I did the charger thing and it would fully charge up in several hours. Then be below 12v/40% after a day or two of normal driving.

Went with interstate and I'm back to normal (interstate for TSX and RDX also).

OEM battery that has not been changed

I took it to autozone, the car was off and he hooked it up to the machine, it said 88% charged and 'bad battery' on his output. (car had been driven for 30 minutes in city traffic prior to getting to the store)

Not sure if it is as simple as a battery or something with the starter or alternator.

I supposed the prudent thing is to change battery, if that doesnt resolve, then get it checked out by dealer?

I did the same thing of new battery and then took it to the dealership to make sure there wasn't any other issues with the starter, alternator, electrical system or battery on my MDX ($60 diagnostic fee at dealership, everything tested A-OK). There is a 99.999% chance it is just battery compared to something else; but, it doesn't hurt to be sure (not sure if the starter or alternator are covered under the 6/70,000 powertrain?).
