I have 2007 MDX. I hear an odd hum/buzz in the steering in a very specific scenario. If I back up turning left then straighten out the steering going forward, I hear a hum/buzz then it stops. It's almost sounds like a horn honking. The odd part is that it doesn't happen reversing to the right, or if I turn the wheel going forward. Any ideas what it could be?
The steering pump was replaced recently and the fluid replaced.
Any help is much appreciated.

It may be a stretch, but it sounds like there may be air in the system. Did you probably bleed all air out of the power steering hydraulic system?

My '13 MDX made a noise in the exact same situation. I've heard other MDX owners mention similar issues.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. The service was done at the dealer before I bought it, so I assumed they did it properly, but it doesn't cost anything to bleed.

That's very interesting. Did you ever fix it or do I just have to live with the sound?

PS line o-ring is likely worn. Also check for proper tension of PS belt (can't be too loose or too tight. Adjustment is EZ, 10 ore 12mm tension nut on long bolt).

Lived with it. I just chalked it up as a design characteristic. The power steering pump was fine and so was the rack
