2004 Acura MDX - Turn Signals Not Working + Brake Lamp Light

Interesting situation I've come across with my 2004 MDX Touring. My turn signals stopped working, of course while on a road trip. The Brake Lamp light is on intermittently, but the brake lamps (side and 3rd) all function properly. I replaced the turn signal switch, but no changes there, so returned it. I read on some other forums about jumping the harness to the hazard warning switch, so I did that and the turn signals work just fine. I ordered a replacement hazard warning switch, but as I turn on a turn signal the fuse blows. The hazards still work, just not the turn signals. I think something more complex may be going on that I can't figure out. I do have a towing package with brake controller, so I don't know if there's something going on there. I'm struggling with the coinciding brake lamp light & the turn signals not working (fuse blowing).
