have you been talking with Meryl? She is awesome....

she did tell me "its on a container and wont be here 2-3 months depending on how long its in customs"

I cant complain since they were doing me a favor...all warranties are usually provided by the seller and not the manufacturer, hence, I just waited and they were more than accommodating....plus mine was not really a warranty, it was more of testing a new shock body

Still paying close attention to mine. I may have hit the bump stop a few times, but nothing too troubling to raise my concern. I'm going on 3 months now with no issues.

F 24-3/4" ground to fender with dampening at 16
R 25" ground to fender with dampening at 16

Yeah I have, I just spoke with her. She stated they should have been shipped and I should have received them by now. She will be notifying me via email. I mean I'm patience and all by just eager to fix the damn sound. I just crank my music a little more, and just inhale and exhale as I hit a bump.

yeah, while putting everything back, I used some white lithium grease so nothing gets seized....

To be honest I don't even know. I hope I do, I mean if they are aware they first shafts were to long for the Tl would be ideal for them to replaced with the new version. So no more clunking or metal hitting metal noise for you?

Thanx. And a warning to all my eastcoast fellas. Prepare for every single bolt to be seized lmfao. I snapped the control arm bolt that holds the fork. And its a big fukin bolt.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, buy why are there 6 studs on top of the front coil?
Please help because i don't see what they are for?
Am i supposed to remove the extra ones?

You need 6. 3 are for the strut bar and 3 are for the top mount to hold the shock into the strut tower.

If i bought these about a year ago new and want the upgraded design how do i go about getting the new front shock body's?

Maybe it has already been answered but i didn't see anything.

It only took two years or so, but here we are - FINALLY installed. I was part of the initial XLR8 group buy that had the coilovers with the backwards plate. Going to take it out tomorrow over some bumpy roads to get some idea of worst case scenario re: ride quality and also to adjust dampers accordingly before the back seats and strut bar go back in.

They're preloaded at street/sport and I've currently got them set at 30/30, which, depite seeming pretty hard, the ride is quite comfortable. Not as comfortable as before, mind you: but not bad, nonetheless. I assume that adjusting them is as easy as twisting a cap off of a twist off beer?

Slightly harder than that. I never have to remove my rear seat or strut bar to twist off a beer cap.

My suggestion is to leave the strut bar off (or modify it or buy the RV6 bar) and leave the back seats out until you get the dampening to where you're happy.

Look what I just received today after waiting and calling every week.

Anil, did you measure the new shafts are they about 15 inches? Hoping to swap the old to the new one on Saturday.

Yeah I did. I asked since I didn't have to old shaft out of the car, and just happen to measure the new ones. Post 182 shows picture and Anil didn't stated the difference in length between the two shaft.

I do not have any clunking, but the shorter shafts are primarily for being able to drop more...

in part of the testing, to drop the car, preload was adjusted which is not the right way to drop...most of us had a problem since the fronts were maxed (drop) and we werent even tucking tire....

the shorter shafts solved this issue and the clunking which Chris-twiggilus was experiencing....

after installing his coils, we were able to slam the fronts and still have room for more drop, all this without touching the preload...

ISC sells the shorter shafts...hit them up and see what they can do for you....you might be able to get a deal since they are great to work with

First off let me apologize to Meryl and ISC for talking sooo long to install these....they have been sitting with me since Jan and with traveling for work and a new born, I just didnt get time to install these on mine even though we installed it on Chris's car LOL....


So here it goes....measurements !!!

Difference in length:

Length of threaded body on the long one: 245mm (9.65")
Length of threaded body on the short one: 205mm (8.07")
Difference: 40mm (1.58")


Length of Strut on long one: 194mm (7.64")
Length of Strut on short one: 173mm (6.81)
Difference: 21mm (0.83")


Total length of long one: 439mm (17.28")
Total length of short one: 378mm (14.88")
Difference: 61mm (2.4")



So the new shorter shaft is 2.4" shorter overall....also you can lower the car another 1.5-1.7" AND preload tighter and hence avoid clunking

NOTE: I was not experiencing ANY clunking even with the longer ones....and I think I figured out why (keep reading )

This is with the preload set to 170mm, and old longer struts bottomed out...now I am 600lbs lighter than stock, so some of you might experience different heights...I was at 24.5" FTG (fender to ground) upfront and around 24.75" FTG in the rear (with plenty of room to drop in the rear)

Now here is the answer to all the clunking riddles IMO

The coil says 180mm but its actually 175mm (right smack dab between 175 and 176mm)...since the pic was taken from an angle it looks like the tape measure is not position right but I measured it 3 different times....

So when we all were asked to preload to 180mm or even at 175mm, we WERE NOT preloading the coil AT ALL....this I think resulted in all the clunking....I was always preloaded to 170mm and maybe thats why I was not experiencing any clunking...


This is how much I was preloaded, with the car (and wheels) in the air, I barely have the rear wheels come down by an inch....oooo fancy pic

So I installed everything back and wanted to drop her DOWN !!! so I tried out 23.5" FTG, and with this, I can drop another 0.5" to 0.75"...but point being, you can really slam her with these new shorter shafts....

I really hope this helps all the members who are and were experiencing issues with ISC coils....I think these are the better coils on the market since these can accommodate more drop than Teins, the ride quality is awesome, adjustable dampening, come with top hats and all the assembly as well as they drop in the right manner and not by adjusting the preload/spring locking rings and the best part, AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE....


I recommend, everyone having clunking issues to check and measure the preload, and adjust it/dial it in to about 172-173mm for a decent ride and 169-170mm for a stiff ride (because racecar bruuhh !!!). If you are still having some issues with clunking, hit up Meryl @ (PM me for her email) and you can pick up the shorter struts from her (I am sure it will be a little $$$ but the coils will still end up being cheaper than Teins or Ksport)

NOTE: I measured the preload of the springs with the coilover on the car and off the car and they were exactly the same....


My final ride height is at 24" FTG and I will post some pics of the car tomorrow/day after....

Hey guys i have a somewhat random question. What dampening setting on the ISC's do you think its equal to the dampening on stock TL-S shocks?
What i mean is which is the setting from where you can make the suspension softer or firmer than stock?

I think with the Sport/Street springs about 10-12 is what will give you a nice and comfy ride...15-16 will be comparable to Type S/6MT....20-22 will give you a nice and firm ride...and 25-26+ will give you a very firm ride....


when I used to ride by myself, I had the dampening at 24 front and 28 rear....when driving back and forth from Chicago, I was around 14-ish all around and loved how comfy it felt....

now with the kid in the car, I have it set to 18 all around...

Ok thanks guys i was just wondering. I have the fronts set at 22 and rears at 20 and i love it so far. Definitely stiffer than stock but not back breaking by any means.

so after about a month of having the shorter shafts, still no thumping or bumping....I was at 24" FTG but because of scrapage, I went back up to 24.25" FTG....here are some shots:

i read the 1st page and didn't see ANYONE talk about the performance aspect of them, WHAT I REALLY CARE ABOUT. How well do these perform ripping around on the streets?? Thanks!

I installed mine a few weeks ago and the car definitely seems more planted and flat through the turns.

I only have a 1" drop and damping is 20 in front and 18 in back. Car doesn't feel bouncy and very comfortable aside from the occasional crazy bump or dip.
