rockstar143's '04 NBP progress thread (part deux continues after 6 year hiatus)
So the wheel adventure started in this thread, https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-tires-wheels-suspension-97/pics-thread-work-xc8s-fitment-gurus-lend-me-your-rears-778859/
But this will be the thread where I update pics of the car etc from now on.
And here are the pics for now. +35 rear +45 front, 235 35 19 Hankook Ventus Evo's, no fender roll...no adjustment of tein SS from the stance I had with the aspecs...running about -.5 rear camber and -1.3 front camber. Rode with 4 people last night (given, the 2 in the back weren't huge) and not even the slightest bit of rubbing. Yay.
A lot of people showed interest in these when 03cu1 was selling them, but they sat on that thread for 9 months. I saw the price drop from 1500 to 1300 to finally ending up at 1100 plus ACTUAL ship. Glad I didn't pass it up...I love how stealthy and mean the car looks. I've never wanted to have black wheels, but this changed my mind.

Well boys, TL cleanup is going rather well.
Let's see...all weather mats added, got the aspec side skirts finally.
Figured out my mounts are cooked...probably the high speed vibration I'm feeling, worse from the passenger side which makes sense.
Finally found my forever wheels... so much so that I sold the aspec and esr wheels the car came with. Put on some firestone Indy500
...same ones that that have lasted a long time on the Audi...
I'll do mounts when I do the timing service, high pressure steering line, clutch and oil seals. I have decided that with the clean history, lack of rust...
and overall good condition...I'm going to dive into this one and address all the things. It's a perfect daily and I am in love with it right now.
and my dirty little secret is I put gloss black vinyl pieces over all the failed clearcoat...it looks like shit up close but from 15 feet away it doesn't jump
out at you anymore, which is good.

Thanks for the kind words all...it's been an adventure for me, but yeah, I'm actually happy I didn't have to go on too much of a mission.
Only pain was I forgot to tell the tire shop about the different specs front and back and had to take 2 back to swap the other direction.

looks sweet!! he could always get spacers down the road if he wants to sit more flush...next mod with a brake upgrade and some bigger discs to fill up that empty space?? that will be my next mod (wilwood BBK) for my car

thought about brakes etc...but I think this mod will hold me over for quite a while! lol...yeah, if I decide I wanna go more flush I'll do some spacers, just didn't wanna get any more involved with having to roll fenders or anything.
Thanks for the compliments all...I have an 04 so NOT type s, just have the tail and sidemarkers. It is 6 speed though.

ironically enough, i hate black rims too...I always felt like they make it so you can't see the detail in the wheel. But once I got these and put them on, it was absolute love!
Thanks guys...lovin the comments!

Will try and set up some pics with a nicer backdrop soon...I swear...I really never thought I'd go for black wheels...but I'm really happy I did...was watching the car in the reflection on a truckers hubcap and MAN does it look mean and nice!

LOVE the stealth theme! Im same boat as you, bought some TEs and realized the prices on centercaps and lugs were insane lol! I went ahead and bought the center caps, dont think Im buying lugs. Im about to just spray paint my lugs with duplicolor metalcast blue. Basically what you did. I wouldnt mind getting $200 lugs BUT with the regular lugs people could just steal them with a 19mm socket so I'd always have to worry about where I park. Only reason to use them is for meets, which honestly I think is dumb to have to change lugs each time. Anyways long post sorry.. nice car

Thanks man, no problem!
About the lugs, they were my gorilla locks, I had paid 40 shipped...I had bought them blue, then painted black and in using goof off to take off the black, I made them completely chrome again. Duplicolor metalcast is what I used and it worked like a charm, just keep doing light coats until you get the blue to look kinda like the valvestem!
I am really in LOVE with the look of the car now...seriously. I sometimes think, dang you can't see the detail of a black wheel...but at the price I paid, I couldn't go wrong. and when I saw it rolling today and even standing still it just looks so aggressive. Totally me!

Looking goooddd, I was actually thinking of getting these before I picked up my TEs.
Questions... do you have a camber kit in the rear? I'm just wondering how the camber is only at -.5 if you don't have one. My specs in the rear are 18x9.5 +35 and the camber is at -3 w/o a kit.

Thanks Fellas!
Yeah, I ended up giving in and getting a camber kit when I decided to get my last alignment. It's one of the 2 arm lower tie bar ones...85 bucks shipped off ebay. No name, but it's been fine for me!
Ryan, for sure, thought you might not be on here anymore now! Glad to see you around! I'll stop by after work one of these days.

The honey, huh...lol...sounds good!
Again, thanks for all the compliments guys!
Yeah, I looked back in the backseat and thought that pic was pretty cool. I was so in love with the wheels just picking them up with tires on them!

Teehee...yay...the guy I bought the centers from from WORK USA asked me for some full size images for their site. He's telling me the color is customer ordered/powdercoated. COOL!

Thanks man, very much.
No sir, no plans. I have stage 3 right now, I hate drone, I hate loud exhausts and I really don't like how any other tips look any better than the factory bumper hole opening ones.
