Fastline Performance Carbon Fiber Accent Feeler Thread
So I talked to Marcus from Heeltoeauto and he may be interested in making more carbon fiber parts for the TSX/ACCORD depending on interest. So this thread is to gauge the interest of the community to see who would be down to purchase this.
He already produces a spark plug cover that could be found here:
http://www.heeltoeauto.com/image.php?productid=64873
and looks like this:
So maybe we could even get a groupbuy going for both of the pieces together if there's enough interest.
So lets get a list going of people interested please, copy paste it and add yourself:
Engine Cover
1. KEAK-Accord

I think he's used to all of our other resident vendors. They complete work with a slowness rarely witnessed in the human species.

1. How much will it be (including shipping to kangaroo land)?
2. Anyone know how this looks in our engine bay?
Also, this WILL fit all models right?
Edit: Will it look odd with a Takeda SRI rather than a CT icebox?
Possible to photoshop it in?

I don't know about shipping. But assuming the spark plug cover is 100ish, I'd expect the engine cover to be about 150...and maybe we can get all of that at a bit lower if we can get enough interest generated for a group buy. IDK Marcus will have to chime in on that.
As far as looks go, i think carbon fiber is beautiful when done in moderation. So an engine cover spark plug cover combo next to a takeda will look sick in my opinion.

Hmmm, at the moment, I wouldn't mind purchasing a spark plug cover for around $100 as I have the money but depending on how much they'll be together/how much the engine cover will cost, I might not be able to afford it lol.
It will fit my car right? o_o

You have the honda k24Z3 which is the same exact thing as mine. The spark plug cover will fit for sure except it will cover up the little honda logo at the top on the engine...i'm sure most won't care about that. The engine cover should fit as well.

Oh yeah, that's what I was looking at cause in my engine bay, at the top there was the little gap but with the spark plug, it just goes straight and it's too cold for me to go outside to check what that top part was at the moment (plus I'm lazy lol).
Cheers Keak. Update me if any more info comes up as I might be able to afford it lol.

Well, with the interest this part can be done in like 2-3 weeks max. The grille is taking forever because there are so many vendors involved and I have to do a lot of the work myself, and my personal time is sort of limited. Also the part was made from scratch. This part is a very simple deal to get done. The plug cover went from zero to product shipping in less than 3 weeks since we were mostly just replicating the stock part.

Damn, I just got called out. Anyway in that case hopefully the interest warrants the product

Marcus, IDK if you got my follow up email, but the 2012 Civic SI will be having the SAME exact engine as the tsx/accord so you may as well start making these and beat the other companies to the punch because when the SI comes out soon all the other companies are gonna be all over the platform with parts.

Just curious... Is there a way to any of these done in dry carbon? On your site there is a statement regarding the look you don't get with dry carbon. However, I'm all for the dry carbon look. Also, any way to get a hood made for this car? I'm considering making my own mold and laying it down myself but I just don't have the room in my apartment for such an undertaking. Maybe I'll just have to go the cheap route and cover it. lol!

here's a faster method if you want to get something done in a few hours. (3-5 hours depending on how big the piece is)
go to www.fiberglassforums.com. go to the carbon fiber section. look up build projects. youll find a lot of members wrapping parts in carbon fiber.
then go to www.uscomposites.us and go by raw carbon fiber sheets, resin, brush, wet sanding paper.
you dont need to make a master mold. youre just wrapping real carbon fiber sheet over your OEM part
its like laying on wallpaper. if you dont know how to lay wallpaper, i seriously dont know what to say.
1. take off your OEM part
2. clean it well
3. brush some resin
4. lay down the carbon fiber
5. brush some more resin
6. let it dry
7. brush some more resin
8. wet sand
9. buff and polish
this should take about 3-5 hours due to resin drying/curing
send your $325 donations to ed_423 fund for his tpms and hub centering rings.

WTH happened to my garage
Not that anyone asked for it, including Heeltoe, but until one has done a project like this, you can't believe what a PITA it is to get stuff like this done on a schedule.
I remember doing CF instrument cluster gauge pods for 96-00 Civics, production schedules were in dog years.
