Wiper blade rubber inserts

got my hands on some genuine Honda rubber wiper inserts for 04-08 TL.

has anyone just replaced their rubber stripping off the windsheild wipers and if so, how difficult was it to remove it off the wiper blade? does it just slide off?

paid $10 for both pieces brand new.

They probably just slide off and the new one's right back on.

A couple of prongs at the end of the wiper blade arm hold the inserts in place-- just use a pair of pliers to grip the blade inserts near those prongs and pull so that the inserts slip from the prongs.
Move the metal reinforcement strips from the old to the new inserts.
Pull the new blade inserts onto the wiper arm; the prongs should just slip into the holes at the end of the new inserts as you pull the inserts onto the blades.

Recently replaced mine. Very EZ to do.

Beware, MANY dealers are charging about $9 or $10 for EACH side including several I called in the NYC area. They tried that when I went to the Acura of Manhattan parts counter. I whipped out a printout or the
FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPER page from www.acuraoemparts.com

017 76622-SDA-A01 RUBBER, BLADE (650MM) 1 2004 TL 5.30 ...... 3.98
019 76632-SEP-A01 RUBBER, BLADE (475MM) 1 2004 TL 4.88 ... 3.66

showing the manufacturer's suggested retail list prices as $5.30 and $4.88 respectively. They IMMEDIATELY honored those prices.

autoanything.com is having a sale on wipers. I got left and right wipers for 10 bucks shipped tax free. http://www.autoanything.com/wipers-w.../201A3373.aspx You might need to find the left one for that price by putting in another vehicle, like a 1995 honda accord. It is BOSCH brand so should be pretty good quality.

I like the OEM blades. Even out here in the desert heat, they last upwards of 3 years. I did notice they recently switched to a different synthetic material. The last blads I bought were all a metallic dark-gray color instead of black. We'll see how those hold up our 2 cars.

PS: You can get the blades from Honda for cheaper. The part number is not the same as the Acura one, but I know for a fact that gettings ones of the same length works perfectly. That's what I did. I think the long one came off an Odyssey...

I also like the OEM blades. They seem to last about 4 years for me. I'm just changing them for the first time on my 2005 and my previous CL-S they were also about four years old. Both cars were about six months out of warranty before I changed them and for only minor streaking.

I just picked up a pair from the dealer. He said it was going to be $14.64 plus tax. I said you're kidding, I can get them for less then $4 a piece on line and showed him a print out from Acura Parts Warehouse for $3.60 and $3.91. He looked at the paper and said "I could give you a discount but I don't think it will be that low". He came up with $11.00 ($5.50 each) plus tax so I took it. I would have had to pay shipping and may be handling on the internet order so it was a good price.

My wife's Civic needed them after three years and my old Honda Accord ('91) made it five or six years on the original wipers. I used aftermarket name brand refills on the Accord and ended up changing them every two years afterwards. The higher price for OEM refills is worth it since I find they last about twice as long.

And Thanks DMZ for the part numbers!

Super easy to do, and the sensible choice. This is just as effective as getting new wipers but much more cost efficient.

Just the topic I was looking for.
What kind of replacement blades are recommended? Honda OEM. (any others though?)
What sizes? 650mm and 475mm.
Thank You AZine.

Try Googling PIAA silicone refill. You want refill numbers 94048 and 94065.

You can pick up full-blade replacement wipers for about $11 a set at Walmart. VERY easy to replace. I'd rather do this than just get the inserts.

Will these refills fit on the OEM wipers? I'm looking on a website right now and it's saying that these refills will only fit PIAA wipers.

They fit on my OEM wipers just fine. In fact, I switched out a set just last week. Takes just a minute; three minutes if it's your first time. I like the PIAAs b/c they are made entirely out of silicone, vice being coated with silicone.
