Talking Production EDFC Compatible Strut Tower GROUP BUY

Hey guys I have been working on a strut tower bar for a few months now. With Astro's permission I just wanted to gauge interest to see how many I should have made for the first production run. I am planing to have standard and custom powder coating colors. The brackets are all in CAD and ready for production and they are making the custom die for the extruded aluminum bar now. This bar will work with or without engine covers and we are working on brackets to hold everything attached to the factory strut tower bar now. The pricing is expected to be around $150 shipped but is not set in stone yet. If we could get list started with what color option you want that would be great.

Keep in mind this is only the prototype. We are using a modified Greddy bar for mock up but that final version will be using our own bar.

Of course the mount is firmly attached to the strut tower using 5 bolts instead of only using 2 bolts.

Polished/Black will match more people's engine bays.

I vote for polished though.

I didn't planing on coating the bar but if there is enough interest I will do it. Basically people will put down a deposit and choose a color and I will have it made. The rest will be made using the most popular color.

i've been looking for a decent strut bar for a while now! looks like you've done it again richie. but a question: not being an expert in this area - how sturdy can we expect this bar to be? i slip A LOT in the front end wheels around a hard turn - dropped on H&R truCoils here...if that helps

i'm in for sure though despite - your rep precedes you

Yes the bar will be made of chambered aluminum bar for strength and to save weight.

dude, people will buy this... for sure... there has been such a demand, that people have been crafting their own ones! (Kennedy, ACCURATEin & jptl04)

you've got ten people in an hour ...ready to buy one of these!

this isnt something people want, its something they need... anybody with EDFC motors, or who just want to increase front suspension strength

One of the goals of this project was to make a stronger stiffer strut tower bar. The stock one is pretty light and flimsy. This strut tower bar should tighten up your suspension for a more planted feel and reduce body roll. The main goal was to allow the use of EDFC and to make something aesthetically pleasing yet functional.

Is it really going to make a difference though, the strut towers are very very close to the firewall, I question how much flex there is in this area.

The back however, that would probably make a much more dramatic difference.

Every little but helps. This is mainly targeted for people with EDFC or people what just want to add some bling.

Just to add a little to what Richie said...

Lets face it... the factory bar was a joke. Although the TL isn't strictly a performance car, Acura could've increased the thickness of the mounting portion of their bar! The bar itself doesn't seem to be extremely rigid either. Failure of the stock bar is probably far fetched but this new design is definitely much sturdier and beefier than the OEM design.

The mounting brackets are made of 5mm thick mild steel and as RV6 mentioned earlier, it mounts to 5 of the studs versus the makeshift strut bars that mount to 2 studs. These brackets are pretty heavy duty and don't look half bad either

We also took into account the strength of the arms... theres a special aspect of the design that allowed for more weld area, hence creating a stronger assembly.

The bolt holes on the brackets and arms are slotted to allow for some play during installation but once you bolt everything down, nothings gonna move

All in all, the design is pretty solid. It looks great. It sits flush with the all the covers.

Definitely looking forward to some user feedback.
