So with the 168 and 194 bulbs being different wattages, when ordering LED's to replace them, I know LED's present a different resistance, but do you need to be concerned with the wattage? I ordered some from V-LED's but didn't even think about checking wattage, just size.

the wattage pretty much means how bright the OEM bulbs are.

for example, the factory wedge on the door light will fit the reverse lights. it just wouldnt be as bright.

That thread is 5 pages long and I think this should remain a separate thread for easier viewing.

History shows that stickies don't get a lot of attention, and I'd rather put it in the 3G Garage, which I have done. See 3G Garage #G-077.

Yeah, I was thinking that you could put it into the first post or post#7. That way all of the information is within one post.

Either way, we both know that no matter where you put it, there will still be several new threads asking what type of bulbs to use in X location.

They are all LEDs and aren't meant to be replaced, but if you want, you will have to get similar or brighter LED bulbs and soldier it on the circuit board.

I just looked at the Sylvania replacement guide, and it says the rear turn signal bulbs for an 04 TL are 7443. So which is it, 7440 or 7443?

Mine's a 2007 base and when I changed mine out, it says 7440 on the bulb. So I assume its the same for the 2004 as well since 2004-2006 and 2007 uses the same parts number for the rear turn bulb.

FINALLY found this thread.

Just want to add from another post in regards to the seat heater switches. They require NeoWedge bulbs 8mm wide, and 10mm tall. (this is based off of another post https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...er+switch+seat ).

i went to the superbrightleds.com site and was looking at the WLED-x6 LED bulbs. The site doesn't specify how many watts are these. I'm just looking to replace my interior bulbs and the post at the beginning of this thread says the bulbs use different wattage. I'm just looking to replace my dome, door, and vanity mirror lights. what bulbs should I be getting?

thanks

Any bulb will do as long as its the same size....even if its different wattages, it'll still light up.

i'm a newb at this and was just reading all the comments and was interested in replacing all my interior lights to led. I came across a comment about soldering? Not sure how to do that. And its not direct plug and play if I replaced it?

All bulbs are direct plug and play and doesn't require any soldering. The only soldering is when you are dealing with LED circuit boards but if you only want to replace all interior lights, you can do so by ordering the correct size bulbs. Soldering for instance if you want to do your brake lights, your dash lights, speedometer lights, etc.

Two Navigation buttons dimmer that the rest

I just noticed the 2 buttons under the nav screen on the left(Map/Guide, Menu) are dimmer than all the rest. I wonder if they put the wrong size bulb in at the factory, since my car is a new 2008. Is it difficult to replace the bulb? Is it worth having the dealer attempt to remove the bezel and risk scratching everything and then have them put it back and risk having a rattle?
Has anyone attempted this before and knows how to do it?

Its prob the placement of the bulbs...I'm sure they all use the same bulb when they install at the factory. I wouldn't mess with them or take it apart. Its only gonna cause more problems later and risk scratching your trim or break a clip or so. Just leave it alone.

Some of mine are like that too, but not too much that it bothers me.

Want to help clear some confusion.

7443 and 7440 are pretty much the same bulb size. 7443 is for dual filament, meaning it serves two functions: stays lit when the parking light is turned on, and blinks when turn signal is used. 7440 is single filament meaning it only serves one purpose: just blinking. You can put a 7443 in the rear and it will only serve one function instead of two, but you CAN'T put a 7440 in the front.

For the rears, its recommended to put in 7440 and some bulbs are made to be used as either 7443 or 7440. Just make sure when ordering that it lists BOTH 7443 and 7440.

HAPPY LEDing!!!

To clarify further:

7440 is single filament (old style incandescent bulbs), which equates to only one power (brightness) level when talking about LEDs. They can blink ON/OFF or be on steady, but only one brightness level when on.
These can be used as parking lights (on steady but will be quite bright), but are typically used as turn signal bulbs (blinking on/off). The bulb base will have only two contacts.

7443 is dual filament (old style incandescent), which equates to two power (brightness) levels when referring to LEDs. They can be totally off, turned on at a lower brightness level (low power filament), or turned on at a higher brightness level (high power filament). These are typically used as combination parking lights (low power filament on) and brake lights (high power filament on) when brakes are applied, or combination parking lights and turn signal lights. Parking lights do not have to turned on for brake lights or turn signal lights to work.
Both power levels can be turned on steady or blinking, depending on the circuit design and application. The bulb base will have 4 contacts but in reality it's 3, as two are the same (ground). IE +V for low power flament, +V for high power filament, and Ground for both filaments.

If you guys ever need the list for future reference, here's a really good shortcut to get there:

google.com and type in "3g bulb size" or "acura tl bulb size". It will be the first one on top.

04-08 (all 3G TL's) models use the same dome lights. only the 4th gen TL's are different.
