What to get?
What to get?
Hello all,
My TSX was recently totaled, so in the market for a new car. I'm looking for for something bigger so far a narrowed my search down to:
Acura MDX
Acura RSX (drives allot like my TSX)
Audi Q5
Cadi SRX
I really like the MDX, but what is driving me away is the color combo not available in White, on black interior, and the ugly wood trim. I don't like wood trim.
Is that just dumb, how do you people like the taupe interior? I have a messy two year old, and I'm afraid it will get very dirty.
Did any of you look at any of these cars, or what drove you to the MDX?

as far as the choices you mentioned...
RDX-cute ute...i just couldn't see myself in a cute ute, plus its a lot smaller than the MDX. and you mentioned you have a kid...if you go on road trips, the extra cargo space in the MDX is always nice rather than cramming every thing including your kid (with car seat) into an RDX.
Audi Q5-not on the radar...reliability steers me away from audi in general, nice car, but priced well outside what i want to pay for the things i want
cadi- again not on the radar...not a cadi fan really, though the CTS coupe is hot, but i could never buy domestic b/c of reliability.
MDX-sporty muscular look, honda/acura reliability, lots of bells and whistles for the money compared to others, handling is excellent for a big ole 4500 pound beast along with decent MPGs for an SUV, SHAWD system...i'm sure there are a few more things that drew me to the MDX...its an acura and i just like the look of the MDX (i have an 09 pre shield grill) compared to the others.
i considered other SUVs, but once you've had a taste of luxury branding its kinda hard to go back (my TL spoiled me). so....
i can understand the light colored interiors (dirt factor), hence i made sure i got black interior (which the wood trim crap is actually black, so its not so blatant-it looks really good). i'm not a fan of the wood trim either but apparently now a days it seems that manufacturer's are all in the mindset that faux wood interior accents are considered luxurious. i know lexus puts the wood trim on their steering wheels...yuck...not a fan.
if you go new...you might be able to order the car in white with a black interior (it might cost you though, since its a special order).
so what it comes own to beyond looks of the car (which are important), but what other things are important to you?? creature comforts, value-best bang for your buck, reliability, handling, utility aspect, sport aspect....do you absolutely have to have the white exterior? i like the palladium metallic color myself for the MDX which i believe can come in a black interior. you're going to get some bias...it is an acura forum afterall...and i'm a fan.

Until tomorrow I currently own a 2008 MDX in white with parchment leather interior. Yes it gets dirty easily. My car is white, I love white cars, and they didn't offer it with black interior. I also have a 2 year old so I know what you mean. Truth be told, my sisters BMW has black interior and with her 7 and 9 year old you still see it when its dirty. Dirty shoes leave marks, cookie crumbs show, juice leaves its mark, so in the end I dont' think its that big of a deal.
The white MDX's look great in my opinion. I also like Taupe more than Parchment.
Regarding the RDX, I think its a bit on the small side.
The cadilacs - not very reliable.
The Audi, nice car, but expensive for what you get in my opinion. Plus on the smaller side.
Good luck with whatever you choose.
