What are the 2013's that dealers still have going for?

Just wondering what kind of discount off MSRP members are seeing? Also are the old style MDX's that are remaining now a better deal then a "new" RDX? Meaning can you buy a 2013 New MDX for less then a new 2014 RDX, and if you could would you?

i've seen '13 MDX with tech's go for as low as $39k+. not sure about the other trims. they are selling well below invoice though.

OP-i thought you already decided on an RDX?

Just did a search on MPG pre-2014 MDX. They really suck, yes I am back to the RDX.

it's not THAT bad.

the MDXs mpg's for my everyday uses is 16-17 mpg vs my TL which would get 17-18 mpg. hwy only trips i can get 23-24 mpg in the MDX (not bad for a 4500lb SUV) and almost 30 mpg (25-26 with a roof rack) in the TL (though i was only getting about 22-23 with a roof rack and two bikes). so really, i get better mpg's in the MDX as a road trip and bike hauler.

so why post a thread about the '13 MDXs if you're set on an RDX? just wondering.

Well if the 13 MDX got close to the same MPG as the RDX, and the dealer discounted them to close to the same price as a RDX I might be interested.

The RDX has much better fuel economy than the MDX. If you don't need the extra space and the SH-AWD is not a big deal then the RDX is the better move. I had one as a loaner for an entire weekend and came away fairly impressed with its fuel economy and performance.

I've never achieved anywhere near the 23-24 mpg that TLtrigirl has managed in my old 09 MDX base nor in my current 12 MDX Tech. (Fortunately, we have a 12 Accord 4 cyl to use when the 17 mpg avg gets to be a bit much in the MDX.)

My wife and I were at the dealer this morning dropping off our MDX for service and they had a white 2013 Advance Tech and a white 2014 AWD Advance Tech sitting right next to each other. I didn't scrutinized the stickers for exact content, but the 2013 was $55K while the 2014 was $57K.

I'm usually a sucker for new designs, but I have to say, exterior-wise, we both preferred the 2013. Definitely more rugged and less "waggony" (my wife's terminology). The '13 was more masculine, which is what both my wife and I prefer in our SUV.

The interior of the 2014 is impressive with the dual screens and elegant layout. It definitely felt to be an "improvement" to the 2013, but not close to the jump of say from the 2006 to the 2007.

Gas mileage is certainly improved with the 2014 and a test-drive would be in order, but I gotta say, if Acura put enough cash on the hood, I'd be very tempted to opt for a 2013.

Just got my Base 2013 MDX a couple of weeks ago. Dealers are marking their remaining stock down, motivated to get rid of them. I was quoted at $41K for a 2013 with Tech, but I ended up getting the 2013 Base for $36K.

Mind you, the selections are limited to whatever the dealers have left in stock. I was tempted to get a 2014, but I really wanted the standard SH-AWD and I honestly like the looks of the 2013 better. Just my

As I posted in another discussion thread, while I was at the NY Auto Show this year I noted that there were many more people checking out the 2013 Tech sitting on the floor than the upcoming 2014 on the turntable. (Granted, I was one of the few looking at the 2014 but mainly because I already have a 2012 Tech.)

Gbalt, good score on the 2013. If anyone in the NYC/NJ area is looking to get a 2013, I do recommend going to Clinton Acura. I've already picked up a couple of MDXs from this outlet, both times not being able to pass up the deals. NOTE: They still have a couple of new 2012 MDX Techs on the lot too.

Does anyone else think its just a little bit outrageous that someone that can afford to drop 40k on a vehicle is worried about a few MPG's?

If you can't afford the fuel stay in the kiddie pool.

Actually, the reason people have money is because they think about these things. I have a Lexus LX that I drive around town, gets 15 mpg. I leased a ILX for road trips for $249 per month, it gets 36 mpg, the gas savings pays for the ILX lease payment.

Brand new 2012/13 MDX's might prove to be good value options over the 2014MY after all is said and done, depending on how you value the upgrades/content/etc. But if MPG is your primary consideration, if the the 2014 averages 5 mpg more, with prices @ $4.50/gal, you'd be saving approx $650/yr in fuel costs. However, if you can get a comparably equipped 2013 for $8000 less (and you might the longer these models sit on lots), it would take you 12 years to recoup the fuel savings. Obviously, there are other factors at play (depreciation, APR rates, etc), but the 2013's might make a compelling argument for those who would prefer to pocket those initial savings and pay a little bit more over the life of ownership.
