We just got a 2013 MDX w/Tech yesterday

This is a interesting story to say the least but I will share it here. I have had Acura's for many years and my Mom has liked them and also started to get Acuras. Her first was an 06 RL, then a 09 TL. We just traded in the TL recently due to her having some back issues (retired and in the late 60s) and it hurts her to get in and out of a lower car. She was interested in a Toyota Venza XLE, well she didn't like how it drove too soft, too much roll, or unstable feeling, so she drove a 2013 Sienna XLE. And I thought she loved it. She bought it. It drove better, but then after a few weeks she started to hate it. It leaned a lot and was just unrefined and unresponsive. Didn't handle real well. It is a van, I don't know what she was expecting. I actually wanted her to drive the MDX first but she turned me down when I mentioned it. So I won't argue with her.

She learned the hard way. With less than 1000 miles, she called me two days ago and said I need to talk seriously. So we talked that evening, and she said she wants to get rid of the van. I was just shocked, and so was my Dad. But she gave her reasons, and the next day, she went to Acura and worked a deal on a new MDX. The 09 TL was paid off, so it was a big payment on the Toyota which we didn't get too hurt by. We bought for 37k and got 34k for the van back. Still around 18k down on the MDX made it have a nice low payment for her and a nice car.

The MDX drives like a dream, handles like a car, and has a sturdy feel. She fell in love immediately. So now with my 2012 TL SH-AWD and her MDX we got two Acura's in the family again. I hope she enjoys it as I think she is so far.

She did complain about one thing, and it's the gas mileage. TERRIBLE! I am not sure what she is getting but with 100 miles on it now, she is already at half a tank. Is this normal?! My TL gets at least 300 a tank with AWD. The other thing we need to figure out due to her small size and height, she has trouble getting in because of the frame rails seem to be a bit wider than normal and the gap between the outside and the seat is pretty large. Anyone have some recommendations on some steps?

Here is a picture attached.

Congrats on the new ride. Same color combo that I bought for my wife a couple of weeks ago.

well...MPGs....if she's crusing around town...MPGs will hurt. 15 MPGs. i generally get 16-17 mpg at avg speed of 25 mph. HWY only....24 mph avg speed of 65mph.

as far as running boards...you have 3 choices for OEM running boards. each one with a different looks and widths. i have sport running boards which look the nicest IMO, but they are narrower than the other two thus they may not be as functional as you want. the other thing to consider is the wider the running boards get the pant leg rub thing (read: dirt) comes into play if you choose not to use the running board to step on to get in and out of the car.

damn didnt' know you sold the type-s. hope you're liking the new TL. i have a 4G TL loaner with SHAWD right now. the suspension feels like my 3G and handles "almost" like it too. the AWD seems to give a much tighter feel for the turns. too bad i can't have the 3G exterior on top of this chassis.

Yep, sold the Type-S. I miss it's looks no doubt. It was a great car. But overall this model is a bit quieter, and handles better (at least seems it). Since I got the 2012 it looks better than the 09-11 and was acceptable to me.

Congrats on the MDX addition to your family. What was the pre-TTL price? We are in the market for a 2013 Tech or an Advance and Im trying to get price comparisons to negotiate with my local dealers (Cincinnati)

Honestly not sure off hand. Would have to find out. But I know she got a pretty good deal as the 2013 were being moved out.

I paid $41,100 (including destination) + tax title and tags for my 2013 Tech.

That seems to be the going price at the high volume dealers. We paid $41.3k for our 2013 Dark Cherry MDX with Technology (including destination) but excluding TTL back in February. The dealer did throw in remote start, wheel locks, and all weather mats. They gave us the choice of any running board or remote start. My wife wanted the remote start for the cold wintery days here in Chicago.

Sounds like you got the better deal then. I was happy with the deal I got, but I would have been THRILLED if they threw in all weather mats and remote start or running boards! I ended up buying the sport running boards from Curry Acura the same day I bought the car!

Nice! This was my second choice for color. I bought a Black 2013 MDX (Tech) with Ebony interior in March.

No issues at all with them.

Btw, update. We had to take my TL to Dallas which we are in right now. The Mdx got into an accident a few days before leaving causing it to not be driveable. Front left suspension basically destroyed. But all new parts going on and it's mostly just bolt off and on.

Update: Sadly after a few months of having the car it got into an accident with a pole. The pole won obviously.

Damage: Front left fender, bumper cover, liner, bent inner wheel, tire damaged, all left front suspension damaged and pushed back 2 inches towards driverside door.

All of this was replaced with OEM parts, and all new paint. Around $3400 later, here is the results. Picking her up tomorrow. I found a couple small issues they needed to wet sand and fix, but other than that, they did a perfect job.

Before, during and after pictures.

Fixed

Wheel is turned here but it is perfectly straight and even.
