Warranty at 105374KM and cracked rad
So the other week the MDX starts lunging and not wanting to shift smoothly. Get it towed and it turns out the rad cracked causing the tranny fluid and coolant to mix and then the tranny fluid level went low. Car is just over the new post lawsuit 105000KM warranty mileage. It happened on a long trip back from Ottawa and got truck towed when it was in toronto (about 500km) away. Got it towed to a tranny shop which fixed the radiator and flushed out both lines. They said to drive it for a couple of weeks and see how it goes because the tranny might have been affected. Turns out it is affected. Does anyone know if it will be covered by Acura warranty since I am just 400km out of warranty? I don't want to go to a stealership and get reamed and then it turns out it's not going to be covered under warranty.
PS the car was initially taken to the tranny shop at 374KM over, it's now about 450km over because I was to drive it for a few weeks.

I'm pretty sure the warranty is for 7 yrs / 100k Miles or 160k KM. That means as long as you're in the 7yr period you are still under the transmission coverage period. They may claim that the rad causing trans issues voids the claim but you never know. GL!
edit: actually it might be 8 yrs / 109k Miles and 180k KM.. but either way you're still good.

I don't think the 2005 is included in the tranny warranty extension. Looks like it will be about 5K to replace it. Not sure whether to keep the truck or not at this point. Might be better to sell it to a mechanic who can fix it for him/herself and then buy myself something else. That would be around 6K in repairs after only 5 months of ownership!

I just noticed my sig doesn't include my MDX info (I thought I had updated it!) Yup, it's a 2005. Acura said about 5K, they might be able to help a little bit, but I doubt it will be too much. Will call Acura/Honda Corporate and see what they can do...I've only ever owned Acura's since I started working so I'm hoping they will help me out. Hopefully they will goodwill me a tranny and/or the dealership will help me out. Been going to this dealership since 2001! Not as much recently because my current car is getting old and I and my friends do some of the maintenance ourselves now.

I wish you the best.. be very professional and just convey your situation and hopefully they'll show mercy on you.. ha.. You shouldn't be paying over $4k CDN on a new tranny. I'm sure there are very reputable independent Honda / Acura shops near you who specialize in transmission work who will do it for a fraction of the cost. Remember if you get the tranny from Acura it will be covered under the 3yr / 36k warranty, just make sure your tranny guy will warranty any future R&R if necessary on the trans.
