Nice. The only other vehicle on that list that we xshopped (prior to our 09 MDX purchase) was the MB M-class; nice car but, we were nervous about possible shoptime.

The X6 is a niche vehicle. Now, the X5 ranking so low I find VERY surprising. I personally found the E70 to be a superb SAV with pricetag being its main downside.

when I bought my 07, it was RIGHT when they came out, and one of the big car mags, either C&D or R&T had just done a similar shootout and the MDX came out on top as well.

we looked at the RX300/350 and test drove teh M/B and BMW but didn't seriously consider them b/c of pricing. for the money -= the MDX is an amazing SUV. the RX lacked third row seating and felt quite a bit smaller inside to my wife and I.

We looked at the Mazda CX9 which actually was pretty nice once you loaded it with leather and nav, etc... it felt "nicer" than I expected for a mazda, but once you loaded it up,, the price was so close to the MDX, and the MDX felt quite a bit better.

We went with our MDX, which was our first Acura and loved it so much, that when my car went out, we replaced it with a CPO 2006 RL.

I recently had the whole family in teh MDX for a roadtripi from SanDiego to SanFran...and the MDX made that drive a joy. taking some of the long sweeping turns up the 5 freeway, I was really impressed at how the car handled. I've had the car for 40k miles now, and it still doesn't fail to impress me. SH-AWD really is amazing.

the MDX is no slouch either. get on the gas and it has no problem keeping pace with people who would *think* they would outrun / pass that "big heavy SUV"...

of the various car purchases I have made throughout my life, the MDX is one of the best ones!

But what goes into "best"? Price? Reliability? Dependability? Style? Value? Comfort? etc....

I'm quite surprised at the Cadillac making 3rd.

I agree with that.....if reliability and dependability were part of the judging criteria of this list, there are several on it that wouldn't be there, starting with the Caddy, followed by the Cayenne and Touareg and Land Rover...not necessarily in that order.
