Trunk door

I'm driving a 2007 MDX sport edition and I have some lumber to return. Is it safe to drive with the trunk door open while driving? The distance is around 4 miles only. Please advise

I can't remember if the MDX had a handle on the inside for the tailgate. It should be as simple as pulling it down manually and then tying the lumber/tail gate down. It will not damage any sensors or anything. I also wouldn't worry about any issues with cops. Put your flashers on and drive slow and you'll be fine.

Yes, it should be safe to drive with the hatch open or simi-open.

Law says anything protruding 4 feet or more beyond the tail lamps requires a red or orange flag at the extreme end of the load during day time. Size of the flag is minimum 18 inches square.
