transmission fill?

does anyone know what the plug on the side of the trans? it is very visable when you turn the steering wheel all the way to the left, it is in front of the tire on the side of the transmission. I was going to change the trans. fluid and opened this one by mistake, there was no fluid that came out. This worried me as you can imagine, but I reinstalled it and found the right drain plug.

You were looking at the AT fill plug. The drain plug is underneath the transmission. You will fill the transmission until it just starts to drip out of the fill plug. Don't forget to change the washer. Many of us just refill the fluid through the dipstick. Depending on your year, the manual states to check the fluid with the engine off!.
