how wide is the tire i can go to put in to my 08 acura mdx without changing rims? OEM tire/wheel size is 255/55R18. i got some choices like 285/40R18 , 275/45R18 or 265/45R18, but not sure if its safe?

 

first off, why would you want to change the width?
255mm is probably the widest I would go on an 8" wide wheel. you could probably do 265mm.

You can go up to 275 at the most on a 8" Wheel... BUT Good luck finding tires in that size.

265/55/18? Nope, Seems nobody makes it.

So your only hope is going down or up in the overall diameter when going for wider wheels.
