Cool Tire Question

Can i use 245/45 tires on the MDX without hurting its performance?

Also I have a set of the stock rims from a 2009 TL, can i use those without them cracking on me? They are the five spoke AWD ones.

I use to have a TL 2012.

The wheels should fit as they are the right bolt pattern, 5 x 120mm and the hub is the same size. As far as the tires go, they might not be rated to handle the weight of the MDX so be sure to check their weight ratings! As far as the sizing, we are going to need to know the rim diameters!

The rim is 18" and yes it would fit the MDX but i am worried about the weight. Can a TL rim hold the weight of the MDX?

stock 18 tire size 255/55/18, opt. stock 19 tire size 255/50/19

stock wheel size 18x8 or opt. 19x8.5

you wanna put 245/45/18 off your TL onto an MDX? so it's skinnier and has a shorter side wall. not only would it look funny, but i believe the performance would be altered. all those honda engineer's didn't throw any tire size onto the MDX just b/c. i'm sure they put a lot of thought and research into what would be the most efficient and give maximal performance for the purpose of the SUV.

the wheel itself will bolt up to the MDX, but you'll need the appropriate tires to handle the load that the MDX carries (usually SUV/CUV) tires vs a UHP tire.

I will be changing the tires when the time comes. Until then I might even go for some Audi rims that I seen online.

Does the Audi wheel share the same bolt patern as the MDX?

The wheel will hold the weight just fine... It's the tire you need to worry about...

for your MDX?

popular choices: pirelli scorpions, general grabbers, bridgestone dueler alenzas (in no particular order).

when it comes time, i will be choosing one of the latter two most likely based on tire rack reviews and what others have experienced with their MDX.

I will go with Vredestien. Tirerack doesn't sell them. I have had them on all of my TL's since 2007. They are the best tires I have ever owned. I want the Ultrc Sessantas for the summer and Wintrac Xtreme for the winter.

Yep, definitely need new tires, the TL 245/45 can't handle the MDX.

Post some pics when you mount the 18" TLs with new tires, I've always been curious to see this combo...
