Which service shall I take?

I have a 2008 MDX with 43600 miles, which shows I need do the B1 servcie soon. After I talked with the dealer, they suggested me to do the 45K major service instead of the B1 service. Shall I follow their suggestion?

Another question is, the price which dealer gave to me is $450 for the 45K service($110 for the the B1 service) and we have another "Honda and Acura repair and service" provider in our neighborhood, their price is obviously lower than the dealer's. So for the major service such as 45K, which one shall I go? Is there any difference between their service? If I choose the local service provider, will it invalid the original factory warranty? Thanks, guys.

1st, you should read your owners manual, and follow its service schedule. It is a little confusing, because it is based on usage, not miles, but is designed to cost you the least. $450 seems a bit steep for a 45K service, which should be a mid-level service, not major. Any qualified shop can do your service work, it will not affect your warranty. Just save your receipts for proof of service.

Yah, I have ~26K miles on our '08 MDX and I was looking through the manual for recommended service intervals based on mileage. Couldn't believe it when I saw there was none. I guess you just have to wait for the wrench to come up on the dash indicator with alpha-numeric ID. That's taking the "idiot light" method of required servicing to a whole new level. I prefer knowing when I'm approaching the recommended service intervals so I can plan ahead.

Well, since the MDX maintenance is no longer based on miles but codes instead, what is that dealer definition of a 45k miles service? According to them, what would they change?

The other questions are, how long have you have this vehicle? Do you have records of previous services? If you have kept up with the maintenance schedule, all you need is a B1 service, not a 45k miles dealer "recommended" service.
