Replacing radio/stereo deck 2004 mdx
hello fellow members im not sure if this has been answered before but ive tried my best to find the answers before asking, i couldnt find it. i do apologize if its been discussed before, please kind direct me to it if it has.
my intention is i'd like to replace my factory installed radio deck that does NOT play mp3. it only has 6 cd changers, which is useless to me. the factory installed dvd player does not play mp3 either.
i hate how i cannot replace the radio because the wiring at the back corresponds with the buttons at the front and is connected to the entertainment system and the navsystem.
i myself know how to replace radios easily with my previous, accord and acura el, but this 04 mdx of mine, i've given up.
any techy like to shed some ideas? i tried reading up online but gotten no where.

Problem is that everything is intergrated into that screen. The only possible thing i see is getting a single din deck and place in in the little cubby in front of the gear shifter. I can't say I know how much space is there exactly since I do not own one( I was looking to buy one and if i did i would want an aftermarket one in there) but thats all i see. Bummer the screen can't even be relocated like ive seen in 3rd gen TL's, hope this helps.
Did find someone who did double din, but this looks like the dash is a custom make. This is from another forum

Lied again, crutchfield makes a double din dash kit for the MDX as well, so this looks a lot more do-able now
here's the link

You can also just go to their main website and seach double din nav's. On the left side you can select features you want(ipod hook up, bluetooth audio, pandora etc) and another option is the free installtion kit which is the double din kit.
Hope this helps

I had a similar question and never reveived a response. I don't mind losing my navigation. However the trip computer and A/C fan controls are handled through the navigation screen. Does anyone know if the fan control screen will still work? 2002 MXD with Bose.
Best buy was able to install a double din pioneer aftermarket HU and let me keep the navigation and fan controls
