rear view mirror tab for replacement?
I have a 2001 MDX with a blackened rear view mirror. I am trying to replace it but cannot remove mirror itself from the metal windshield mount. I have seen videos that say pinch the metal retention tab towards the windshield as well as the opposite direction towards the inside of the cab. I have tried both and cannot remove. But before I push harder I'd like to confirm which direction I should be moving that tab. Can anyone confirm which direction to pinch the tab to remove the rear view mirror?

Update: I was able to remove the mirror but it was extremally difficult. I pushed the tab up and down and had to use a tool to push the pin towards the windshield because my fingers could only hold it for a few seconds. Eventually it came off but I don't know which direction of pushing the tab made a difference.
The new problem is I cannot get the new mirror to 'snap' into place firmly. After looking at the mount on the windshield and the mounting clip/hardware on the mirror I don't even see how this snaps into place?? What part of the hardware on the mirror is supposed to 'snap' into place on the windshield mounting piece???
