What do you guys think. My uncle has an RDX and is willing to swap wheels with me. I like the way they look but not too sure if they match the lines of the MDX.



I think they look pretty good. The current OEM MDX wheels are a little too vanilla for me.

 

I think they might be to skinny on the X, plus I doubt they can fit due to the brakes the X has. The sport rims are as close as you can get to the RDX ones..

Went through the same dilemma.

Herein lies the problem: the RDX's 235/55/18 tires - they're too small. Overall stock diameter for the 235/65/17 tires is 29.028 inches, the RDX 235/55/18 tire is 28.177, so you lose almost an inch and it won't look right. So just as with the pic you provided, you'll need new tires.

Your uncle will then have slightly bigger wheels/tires on his RDX. If that doesn't bother him, no problem. But, you don't need to worry about TPMS because you have an '04, but your uncle will need his TPMS attached to your MDX wheels. Assuming the '04 MDX wheels can accept his sensors, he'll have to remove the stock tires and have the sensors put on ($100 - $125 at your local tire shop).

Overall, I'm not sure it's worth it. Considering you'll need new tires and your uncle will need his TPMS installed on the MDX wheels (or buy the proper sized tires), it would probably be easier for you to buy a nice clean set of aftermarket wheels.

 

Well in my 04 i do have TPMS. I may go with aftermarket. Just had an oppurtunity to get RDX wheels for no cost.

 

Fiftyfive.....double check the wheel bolt pattern on the RDX wheels....I believe that the RDX has a 5x114 pattern and I know the new MDX's have a 5x120 pattern like the RL's.

Well i have an 04 which is 5x114, same as the RDX.

 

Man it seems like from the 01-06 they made quite a few changes in the 07-08 like I have. I would definitley go with the RDX wheels if they are free..no question. I need to do some more research on the little older ones.

 

Yea now the only catch is that i would have to replace tires on both. Tires on the RDX wheels to be closer to the MDXs specs, and tires on the MDX wheels because they are running low on tread life. May not be worth it after all.
