Question about Roof box

Hello all. I have a 2011 MDX Advance as well as a 2012 Honda Odyssey.
Does anyone know if the roofbox that fits an Odyssey would also fit an MDX? I'm thinking about getting the 76" one (mid-size box) . The part numbers are different for the two. One ends in 100A and the other in 200A. But the length (76") is the same on both. Has anyone tried this? Thanks in advance.

Not 100% sure which roof box you are looking at?

I have an Yakima Rocketbox Pro 14 I can use for my MDX and RDX. I used the "Fit My Car" link at the top of page and narrowed down my choice for a roof box that will give me the best flexibility to use either vehicle. I only went with the Rocketbox Pro 14 because it fit on top of the RDX with no overhang over the front windshield and I can open the rear hatch 100%. That should not be an issue since you have the Ody.

Thanks for the reply Mr. Gold. i will check out the yakima roofbox. I don't have to go with the acura/honda branded boxes.

I've had zero issues with my Yakima roof box. I can put it on by myself, locks down extremely secure, no issues with dust/rain, opens from either side, I really haven't noticed any additional wind noise, no real drop in mpgs. Yakima does a good job making the roof box very aerodynamic not to interfere with the driving characteristics of the vehicle. The only time I've notice the roof box is during a strong cross wind or passing a 18-wheeler.

I don't think you will go wrong with almost any Yakima or Thule roof boxes. Hint, Hint: always get one size larger you think you need.

MrGold35: Good to hear this info about the Yakima Rocketbox 14. I have the same thing but have not used it for a roadtrip yet. For me it had to fit both the MDX and our sedan and I used the Yakima fitting website too. Good to hear that there is no real MPG drop with the Rocketbox. Will verify at some point in future hopefully.

I ended up going with a Thule force XL. It's a good looking box and fit my odyssey perfectly. I can get 2 full luggage a in there plus a duffle bag or a couple of book bags.

I chose the Thule over factory or Yakima because of looks and more importantly the ease of use. I went to my local REI and tried both boxes on my car. The Thule was so much easier to get on and off and secure to the cross bars. The opening of the actual box on the Thule is also much smoother, in my opinion, than the Yakima.

I haven't tried to fit it on my mdx yet but I'm pretty sure it will fit and clear the tail gate.

If you decide to purchase one separately for your mdx let me know. I have a genuine Acura Roofbox which I purchased from acura last year and used it only once. It's 10/10. Email me at Matt.jabbari@me.com if you are interested or know someone who might be.
Thx
Matt

This is our Thule Revolution 18 cube carrier. Went through a few carriers until we found one that fit our needs. It clears tail and has a slight overhang over the windshield. Little wind noise and decreases the mileage by about 1-2 mpg overall.

As noted before, get one size more than you think you need. On every road trips, we filled it up with stuff easily.
