I purchased a 2013 MDX Advance this past Wed, Jan 1, but...
When I called XM to set up my free 3 months of satellite radio, rep said they request sent in with a date of Dec 31, 2013.
I told rep impossible as I never set foot in to the dealership or even saw the car for the first time until Jan. 1 and "for sure" the satellite radio was not working. The rep of course turned it on for me, but assured me she had a request for this particular VIN, car make etc with a date of Dec. 31.
So I'm curious as to what some of you think of this. Is it because it was a simple "typed" error on the dealership's part, or did they finagle their paper work so that it looked like their dealership sold it before year end (to make their numbers).
I didn't get the "best" deal by the way, but I was willing to pay what I paid because it was the exact color, interior, miles etc that I have been looking for.

I think they "backdated' THE PAPERWORK to have a sales on 12/31/2013. I sold cars for several years and this is a common practice. Happens many times at the end of the month also. Perhaps more incentive money for the dealer, lees taxes for inventory, perhaps a rebate ended the day before the actual sale, etc.
One less day of XM isn't the end of the world. If you are really bothered by it, ask your dealer to refund the cost of one day. Should be around 50 cents or so based on an annual charge of about $180.00
You found a remaining 2013 in your color choice and equipped the way you wanted it. Enjoy your new car and be positive.
