Newish Owner - Some Questions

Hey All,
I bought a white 2008 MDX (sport/ tech packages) back in Feb of this year. I actually came from a G35 coupe haha (had a baby late last year - tried to make do with the g35 and wife's Prius, but it was too difficult). So far, I'm enjoying the MDX - its no sports car, but it drives well for an SUV, and also it's comforting to know how safe it is. Still have a little bit of trouble parking it, since it's bigger than anything I've driven before haha. I'm hoping eventually to get a used S2000 as a weekend car.

I have a few questions:
-does anyone else find the MPG calculations high? This morning my trip computer was reading 19.6mpg. But when I did my own calculation, I get 18.4! that's a huge difference.

-how do I make the stereo display brighter? I know there's a button to brighten the instrument display, but I don't think this applies to the stereo. It's impossible to read the stereo display on a sunny day

-anyone know if it is "bad" for the car to put it into sports mode while moving? I used to wait for a traffic light to do that, but sometimes I forget until I'm on a nice curvy road, and then it's too late. Now I just keep it in sport 24/7 haha.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome.

1. The MPG calculations tend to be ~ 1-2 MPG higher than the actual mileage.

2. The instrument/stereo display should be linked.

3. You're fine leaving the truck in "sport" mode.

Thanks for the quick reply. Regarding q3, I was more interested in toggling between sport and comfort modes while moving.

YW. I should've been more specific. You can go back and forth without worrying about anything.

The only thing this will do is put more wear on the tranny, but it won't "hurt" it, per say.

my MPG calculations are pretty spot on for my 07, then again I have it reset everytime I get gas so it's tracking for 200 or so miles.

Its not bad at all to change the suspension mode while moving! You can do it as much as you please. The same goes for the gear shift, it's perfectly fine as long as you don't hit the rev limiter repeatedly!

Thanks all.
It's odd that the trip computer could be so off....I too reset after each fill up and have noticed discrepancies in the past.

I'm still getting better mileage than the g35 (because no longer have a lead foot), so I can't complain too much.
