New to us 2010 PMM MDX Tech/Entertainment

Hello all. Figured I'd drop in and show off our new acquired 2G MDX. This is the 4th Acura and 6th overall Honda vehicle we've owned over the last 15ish years. I went from a 98 Prelude Type-SH to an 06 RL ACC/CMBS to a 12 TL SH-AWD. Wife has gone from 98 Accord EX to 2007 TL Navigation to this 2010 MDX Tech/Entertainment package. After having our second child a few months ago and realizing we needed a larger family hauler, we've been looking around at MDX's for about a month. Our goal was to find an MDX that was nice enough, had the packages we wanted and in a price range that would not add too much burden to our monthly finances. We came away with this MDX with right at 70k miles on the odometer. The car is in great shape overall. All regular maintenance was performed by the Acura dealer. It has a few door dings here and there but we bought it assuming it's probably going to get its ass kicked for the next 8-10 years doing most of the family hauling anyway.

We like the vehicle a lot so far. A little disappointed that you can't run the rear entertainment system through the rear speakers while you run a different audio source through the front but will probably use a workaround suggested by a member on a FB page. Only other gripe is the lack of smart keyless entry and vehicle start but we knew that going into this.

Don't really have a ton of plans for the car. It will be the wife's daily driver and she's not really into modding cars. I will be swapping all of the changeable bulbs with V-LED bulbs, LED DRL's and Morimoto HID fog bulbs. A few OEM accessories here and there. Tinting the front windows. Winter tires on the stock 18's and probably some 19" wheels and tires for summer next year. I'll also be doing a full paint correction followed by Optimum Gloss Coat to protect the paint and give it that extra shine.

I look forward to chatting with others on this forum, getting advice from you all and sharing some any of my knowledge that may be helpful to any of you.

Here are a few pics of the new car, as well as some pictures of our past and present vehicles.

Any chance a mod can change the "PPM" in the title to "PMM" instead? Sorry.

Nice set of cars! Wish I would've gone with the PPM, but didn't want to deal with a darker colored car. Nice Prelude as well - we have similar taste.

Nice addition to the family! It is nice to have that type of firepower if you need the space, towing, or long distance traveling.

I have the Ent version also and I can only get the front/back to to play two different inputs if the the rear passengers are wearing headphones (rear speakers are muted and fronts are on). I have both IR (came with the MDX) and over the ear wired. The wired over the ears head phones I have are a lot more comfortable and block out more road/cabin noise compared to the OEM on-the-ear IR headphones. The IR headphones really hurt the outside of my ears from the pressure of just sitting on top of them (and you get double/triple the noise from the front passengers talking, front music, your audio source, and road noise). The good thing about the wired headphones is you can use them with your smartphone/ipad in and out the MDX if you are traveling, on the beach, or in the hotel.

I'll probably end up going either the wired headphone route or possible getting some smaller speakers to run off the headphone jack back there. The bigger issue I have with the OEM headphones is they don't fit inside the head bolsters of my daughter's car seat very well. The other big gripe I've come across is the lack of visibility from the rear view camera at night. I'm going to try some brighter reverse lights first to see if that fixes the issue. Otherwise, we're getting a lot of good use out of the new car.

I think we all tried to upgrade the reverse lights with LED and that didn't help at all. I have a trailer hitch with harness and use the Blazer C8020 back-up light, $14, Amazon. Other added external LED light hard wired into the back-up light electrical.
