Just curious, why did you buy the OEM tire? I was always given the impression that there were cheaper/better alternatives.

I was approaching 38,000 + miles ytd (das original) and had one tire with a plug. Wasn't going to drive to Los Angeles like that knowing I could be on the side of the road changing a flat during the winter months....NOT my style....I could have gone another 15K miles. I don't drive off road, nor do I drive in snow or wet slick roads. The OEM Michelins performed superbly for my driving needs. The reviews from others is that they were able to get 60,000 miles out of these tires....

I can attest that the OEM Mich Latitude HP Tour does pretty well even in light snow and with careful driving, it will make it through four or five inches of accumulation without trouble. A number of ski trips in the MDX confirms that. The weight of the car helps for sure.

On previous (08) MDX I had the OEM Lattitude HP 2x. Replaced with Conti LX20 plus, amazing improvement in snow, whiles still very quiet. Best rated SUV tire on tirerack and consumer reports.
