Need New Windshield for 2011 MDX
Need New Windshield for 2011 MDX
Windshield had a basketball hit it which caused a giant crack.
I'm surprised a basketball did this but it hit right where the rear view mirror attaches and now its toast.
I have to get it replaced now. Looking like it will be a comprehensive claim.
My glass guy is going to use Pilkington Glass which he said does have the acoustical barrier in our glass. Anything else I need to look out for ? Ive read a lot of horror stories about windshield replacement so I wanted to get some feedback.

If you are really anal, you can get the original glass without the Acura badge on it for half the price of the one with.
I believe ACG makes the windshield for the MDX. APtech made the one for the 3G TL. I have the APtech un badged Honda/Acura windshield in my TL. No issues.
Whatever you do don't ever get the reverse engineered satellite glass. Pilkington is a reputable glass company.

I would ask if the glass place have free chip repair with glass replacement (keep the invoice in the MDX). I've replaced the glass on my TSX/RDX and used the free chip repair about 5-6 times since. You might have free chip repair with your insurance; but, I don't want to give my insurance any reason to raise my rates (already have a 17 yr old son with one accident on there already).
