Nav DVD for 2010 models - location?
All:
Where is the Nav Unit's DVD player on the 2010 MDXs? Is the software/database just loaded to the hard drive via the audio system? If yes, should I have received a backup Nav DVD with my vehicle?

The nav system operates from the HDD. My hope is that an update may be in a similar form as the Gracenote database IE download it and install via the systems user interface devices (USB stick, CD or DVD.) But, because of the Alpine security encription, Alpine will probably sell you a DVD and you will have to load it to the HDD.
I did not get a bu DVD with my '10 MDX either.

^ the 2010 system uses a hard drive which is loaded via a RED DVD, the most current Version is 1.91 and is 185 dollars. I'm guessing it goes into the Radio and is loaded up that way.

Thanks for the reply guys. It will be interesting to see how the updates work. With the recent discs being encrypted and uncopyable, I wonder if/how they will copy protect this system - what's to stop someone from buying an update and then loading it into multiple vehicles? Not what I would do (I respect copyrights).
Agreed that it would be GREAT if it worked like gracenote updates.
