My GPS is insane!
After two weeks of driving my 2013 MDX I am struggling with the directions the gps is giving me. They are absolutely ridiculous!
I live in the NY metro area and key in where i am going just to see the routes it picks and I am dumbfounded with the choices it makes. I have the default settings to prioratize freeways, etc.
Yesterday coming from Jersey to Brooklyn, it made five gross mistakes.
Does anybody in the NY area noticed the bizarre choices the gps does?

yea..I was in northern NJ and was heading to Hoboken. I knew where i was going, but put GPS just to see what it recommended. GPS told me to go over GW bridge into NYC, pulling a u turn, then going back over bridge. I'm on my second MDX, it'll get you where u need, but once in a while it will take you the long way.
I found this happened to my TSX after I updated the map disc 2 years ago. It is almost like some info in the map disc related to turn information got deleted. I got the new disc this year hoping it would correct this but it didn't. Yeah very annoying. But you can see how wacky the directions are, often taking the 'scenic' route to get to your destination.
As I'm familiar with the ins and outs of the roads in the NYC area, I've not used the navi in this area. But I'll give it shot next time and see what it cooks up.
I have seen some irrational plotting in other areas.

I see that after my initial post, everybody is having the same issue.
It clearly seems that the software that runs the navi is crap.
I will call Acura customer service tomorrow and recommend that everybody that has this probkem do the same thing. If enough of us complain, they may do something about it.

I've been saying this for a long time now. The GPS (also had it in my 2005 TL prior to the 2012 MDX) is pretty pointless in NYC. The majority of the time you will get directions that make your head turn. I remember there was a time where I needed to go 1/3 mile total, and it put me on a course to leave manhattan, go into brooklyn, make a u-turn and then come back which would have taken 27 minutes according to the GPS.
If I really need to defer to my GPS in NYC these days, I use my phone.

I called Acura today to complain and according to the customer svce rep, they had no record of the GPS being wacky...
On a related note, it is also puzzling that Acura does not have an email address that a customer can use to communicate with them.
I've got a 2010 MDX Advance. You know all high-techy and electronic and with that built in GPS.
Except, ACURA/NAVTEQ pulled the 2012 map update - because it was frying hard drives - and no one knows - or will publicly admit to knowing - when a viable update will be available. So on top of a sub-standard algorithm for picking routes, I've got a $40k car with 2 plus year old maps that cannot be updated.
I use my phone for nav as well. Except when I run out from under the Verizon network. Then I'm back to 2010 maps.
In trying to resolve the missing update disk, I also ran across the lack of contact info. Acura does have a facebook page. If you message them, they will ask for contact info and an area rep will call you. He won't have any good answers, and he won't promise to look into anything or attempt to obtain a reasonable answer, but he will call. And politely refuse to do anything.
I'd love to be able to dump Navteq and install Garmin at this point. Would like to be able to manage my own apps on the info screen much as I pick and choose apps on my Android. Seems rather a shame to have this lovely screen that is stuck with bad data and bad programming.
