License plate Lights 2010-2011
I was wondering has anyone change the bulbs on the license plate on 2010-2011 mdx? I was reading the manual and it states- consult your dealer to change the bulbs. Haven't looked in the car yet, but i can't imagine it being difficult. Anyway, I allready ordered the lights on ebay, if anyone could shine in, if they had any problems changing the bulbs it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

it was not as easy ... it is very easy on the left hand side (driver side), but on the right hand side, it is quite hard to pull out the light cover due to the rear view camera, even with the cover removed, because the camera module is still attached to the car ...
I had to be very careful and hope not to scratch anything in doing so, took me 30 min =(

I also did it last night. Definatly had to use a little force force. 25 minutes sounds about right. Mdx should of made these light stock instead of those yellowish disgusting 1950's bulbs.

Did you manage to complete your install?
Taking out the right bulb enclosure is the same as taking out the left one.
The steps are these
1. Remove all the screws
2. If you have a rear-view camera there, then you need to remove the 1 screen holding the camera case. Then push in on each sides of the case to unhook it from the frame. now, you should have an exposed camera.
3. remove the 2 screens under there camera
4. use some force to pull near the camera. There are 2 clips holding it in.
I tried using a flat-head but stop after thinking it may scratch the paint.
5. Remove the left and right lights
6. Push in from the bottom left as there s a spring clip on the left
7. replace old bulbs with LED
8. Put everything back together.
I think those are the steps.

thread revival...is there a trick to the clips near the camara? other than pulling and hoping you dont' scratch the car and break the clip?? i cussed my way through this followed with $#*@ honda/acura. to no avail. i put everything back together without finishing the install for fear of the above. i will wimper back to the car if there is a better way to do this without any fear of things breaking and scratching. thanks.

I am also having some difficulty removing the black strip in the area of the back-up camera. I have removed all screws, replaced the driver's side bulb & removed the outer case over the camera. The camera is exposed and the black strip loose everywhere except in the immediate vicinity of the camera. What Kim of clips are holding that in? Is the camera unit connected to the black strip- so when I pull it down the camera will be hanging by a wire?? OR will the black strip come down around the camera, leaving the camera in place? I just don't want to break the camera to put in some cheap, albeit good looking, light bulbs... THANKS!!

it feels like you're about to break something...its just a bad angle when you start removing the black trim piece. the other way to do it is get a plastic trim removal kit...some of those tools in that kit look like they would make life a bit easier since you can get the clip to come straight out rather than at an angle. total PITA, but my tags look good! putting it back together is WAY easier than taking it apart.
