I'm new here

I will be picking up my 09 MDX (21,000 miles) in a couple hours. It was between that and a new 2012 Explorer for about the same money. Just about to pull the trigger on the Explorer and came across the Acura. It's not new, but man it just like new. No questions yet, I'm just working on my first five posts. I'll have questions as I put my own mile on the vehicle.

Congrats and enjoy it We have an '09 MDX, and owned it since it was new. It currently has 32k miles, and has been a great ride so far.

you won't be disappointed. I drive new Explorers from Avis as a rentals all the time and find the "my Ford Touch" interface infuriating. It often freezes up and won't respond. The 3.7 V6 in the MDX is much smoother as well. The Explorer in both Ecoboost and V6 form is very corse.

So I've been driving the MDX a day or two now and love it. A few days ago I was driving an F-150 - huge difference!

I love the fact that I can tell the woman in the dash board to do something and she actually does it. I've proposed three time but I think she's playing hard to get.

Congrats man, the MDX is a great vehicle. I have to admit though, the 2012 Explorer is quite impressive (inside and out). That's a testiment to the MDX that a 3-year-old model (pre mid-model facelift no less) beat out the brand-new Explorer...

Even though I've been impressed in Lincoln MKX and MKT test drives, I've heard other quibbles about myFord/myLincoln Touch. I've read Ford is hard at work with a fix. BMW seemed to survive iDrive, so there's hope...ha...

I looked at Consumer Reports for the new Explorer. They told me I could expect worse than average reliability. And I heard there were some bugs in the My Ford Touch system. They promised an upgrade but I have a hard time spending money on a promise. All that added up to walking away from the Explorer. My MDX is in mint condition and figured the 21,000 miles only meant I wouldn't have that new car smell. No big deal

I like to buy American when I can but didn't need the hassles. For what it's worth my MDX is made in Canada.
