How common is this

My '11 MDX was making a weird noise coming from the front end. Took to Acura, and they replaced both front stabilizers under warranty. 43K miles.

Anyone else run into this ?.

My 11 MDX was making a clunking sound on front/right side over speed bumps or larger suspension travel at low speeds. Acura techs found a torn boot on front stabilizer bar and they replaced the endlinks on both sides and it corrected the problem. They might have just replaced the endlinks instead of the whole stabilizer bar.

The exact same sound came back 2 weeks later while on vacation in Houston/Galveston. Tech determined it was the right/front ADS failing and order two front replacements. So far, this corrected the problems; but, it has only been about 2500 miles since install. All covered by basic warranty; which, is about to expire Jan/15. Not sure why replacing the front endlinks would make the sound go away for several weeks if it was the ADS all along?

Interesting.......on the plus side, I did get a 2014 MDX loaner which was pretty sweet. Love the ride on the new one, not crazy about the ergonomics.

Also, what is an ADS ?

You should have the ADS (Active Damper Suspension) for front/rear struts/shocks. Made for the +10 Adv MDX models, 07-09 Sport, and I think the 07-13 Canadian Elite models.

The MDX has a sport and comfort setting for the ADS system you can set any time on the fly for the shock/struts. You also get larger front/rear stabilizer bars to improve handling and upgraded rims with 19 inch tires. The ADS also aids in braking to keep the X more level during braking/acceleration. Not sure if the ADS assist in corning along with the sh-awd and larger stabilizer bars?

I think that the ADS is one of the biggest benefits on the MDX. Damned expensive but certainly the best out there.
It's like a lot of things - 300% more cost for 20% more gain.

Dont think it very common.
Sounds like they wanted to bill Acura big time by replacing complete bar ..
ADS is Pricey .. but its what makes the MDX Advance a true luxury performer.
The 2016 Mustang Shelby is another one that will have it .. besides Ferrari, Cadillac etc.
