Factory hitch alignment

Purchased new 09 MDX and had dealer install factory hitch and wiring harness. The receiver on the hitch appears to be slightly angled to the left when looking at it. I've put hitches on several previous vehicles and they all point straight from the back of the vehicle. Of course the stealership told me that this was normal. I can't find good pics on Acura's site to verify. Anyone else have this issue?

Got any other dealerships nearby? You might want to get a second opinion on that, i believe it should be straight.

How off does it look? If it is not dead straight, the trailer will not track true. I put a Draw-Tite hitch on my '05 myself and can tell you that there is an amount of room for play when installing. On the '05, there are three holes on each side of the hitch that allow for some play. Not sure on the '09s, but you might want to crawl under and take a look. I'm sure that the hitch is a bolt-on; you might be able to loosen and see if you can adjust it a little bit then tighten every thing back up with a torque wrench. Good luck.

Thanks Frosty. It is a bolt-on. After reading the install instructions online and the amount of wiring access involved I decided to let the dealership handle. Guess Acura doesn't think many people will tow with the MDX, otherwise they'd have a wiring harness with access plug installed near the rear bumper to tie directly into. I haven't taken precise measurements, but visually it appears to me that the tubing of the hitch itself is aligned properly; however the square receiver tube doesn't appear to be welded straight to me. I'm going to contact Acura client relations and see what they have to say. IMHO I paid for perfection, not a crooked hitch.

Issue resolved. Dealer finally installed new hitch and fit is perfect. Original hitch was bent.
