Color choice 2012 MDX: parchment or Taupe
We finally decided to get a 2012 MDX. We now got cars with white exterior on black leather interior (love the combo), and a gray on gray cloth interior car. Black don't seem to look good on the MDX. Thinking of going with:
1) Black exterior and Parchment interior - We never had a black car before, and concern that dirty, watermarks, scratches will show up easily. Love the combination thought.
2) Grigio exterior and Taupe interior - I am not too kin on taupe interior but Grigio does not come in Parchment. I figure Grigio might not show dirty as much as black. (Or does it?)
3) White exterior and Parchment interior - We already got a white car, so we like something different. Plus white don't seem to look too good on the MDX.
We keep our cars forever (10-15 years), so we need something that will look still reasonable good 10 years from now. What do you think of Taupe or Parchment interiors? Do they hold up well overtime?

FWIW, we went with Palladium Metallic and Taupe interior on our new 2012 MDX.
The problem with the Taupe interior is boot scuff marks that show up easily on the back of the front seats when you have kids in the middle seat.

the light colored interiors will show dark marks and dye transfer from jeans and leather. my must have is a black interior. much easier to care for and will not show every bit of dirt. i've had light colored interiors....i wasn't much of a fan. so, really this one is up to you. if you have kids you may want to seriously consider black, unless you plan to clean the interior regularly.
as far as exterior colors....black shows everything. dirt, swirls, dust, scratches, smudges...after detailing one, i will NEVER own a black car. they are beautiful when they are clean and unblemished. as soon as it gets marred...forget it.
the grigio is a dark gray. i own two dark gray acuras. while they do show water spots and a bit of dirt (it takes a lot of it), the gray can be much more forgiving on scratches and imperfections in the paint.
i'm not sure how particular you are in caring for your vehicles in terms of cleanliness.

We have a black on black MDX and a blue on black RL. Believe me with a kid, black interiors are very important. The kid does not really ride in our convertible much but I still have to put in some effort to keep the ecru ( cream colored ) leather in the conv in decent shape. It would be impossible if the kid was in there regularly.
And like what TLtrigirl said, the black exterior of our MDX does take work to keep looking decent. Seems like everytime I take it to the car wash, I pick up more scratches from their brushes ! I have become a good customer of Nu Finish Scratch Doctor !

Thanks. We'll go for the white or grigio exterior. Sounds like black interior is the practical choice. We do really prefer the lighter colored interior, which is like a choice between two poisons. Do you go for beauty or practicality?

Got a friend with a parchment interior MDX. Even though his is a 2011, my 2010 looks better on the inside cos mine is ebony. Parchment just picks up dirt and stains faster. Be prepared to work harder if you get the parchment insides and you're particular about cleanliness like me.
