Canadian Headlights
Canadian Headlights
This might be a silly question but I read on Wikipedia that Canadian models of the 2007 up generation (I own a 2007) have headlight washers. Is it possible to retrofit a washer system into a US model?
I imagine a new bumper would be needed if it is like the Mercedes/BMW style where it is an integrated/flush mounted system that only pops out when spraying is demanded.
I live in New Hampshire and want to get ready for the upcoming winter. With such beautiful HID's it would be a shame to have them covered in road grime all the time. Stopping at gas stations to clean headlights, freezing your hands off using snow from a snow bank to clean headlights, or carry around a bottle of Windex and a roll of paper towels is getting old.
Thanks in advance if anyone has any knowledge on this, or if there has been a sticky that covers some sort of conversion.

Doing this system would involve installing both the mechanical portion (pump, lines, sprayers, etc...) and the electrical portion (MICU, Control Block, harnesses, B-Can comm., etc...) in which could run around $1200-1400 and that's IF you modify the harnesses yourself and not purchase them.
Your best alternative would be to buy the mechanical system used off eBay and once installed, buy an OEM headlamp washer switch that would simply bypass the modules, B-Can, harnesses, and directly control a relay which activates the washer pump.

That's a very astute idea. I think I will indeed go that second route. I'll keep my eyes open over the next few months on eBay (Amazon too perhaps) and see if anything pops up, hopefully sooner. I appreciate your feedback!
