Bluetooth Audio will not connect to correct iPhone

I have 2 iPhones paired to my 2013 MDX (my 5S and my wife's 5). Driver 1 (wife) is set for her iPhone and Driver 2 (me) is set to my iPhone under the cell phone setup menu. However, when I'm driving, my iPhone connects to the HFL for phone calls but the BT Audio connects to my wife's iPhone. According to the owners manual, only the driver 1/2 specific phone should be connected for both calls and audio. Can anyone explains this?

try connecting an iphone 4 to it..if it connect and operates properly then its going to be the iphone 5...there is a big compatibility issue between the iphone 5 and the hands free links...its either a hit or miss if it works or not i see this problem all the time at work

Iphone 5S and BT HFL

I have a 2006 MDX and I had problems setting up my phone the first time. It seems the HFL software gets confused and can't pair or find the phone. I solved this by deleting all previous phones from memory and starting out fresh. I turned off Siri (you can turn it on after setup) and did a hard restart of my phone. Once restarted try pairing the phone again and use a designation that isn't even remotely like the ones you used before. It should work then. Hope this helps.

I have no issue with the HFL. The issue is with BT Audio. I think the bottom line is that Acura's BTA is just not that well sorted out.

I have three iPhone 4S (mine, wife & son) and we all have different iTunes music libraries. I think the MDX gets a little confused on which phone to connect to when all of us are in the vehicle.

To solve this problem, I purchased a 64GB flashdrive from Amazon (Silicon Power Touch 830 64GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive, Silver). I just copy/paste the entire 35GB iTunes library on the flashdrive and installed into the USB connection in the MDX center console. It actually sounds a little better with the direct connection compared to streaming over bluetooth. If you stream Pandora, then it doesn't matter which phone connects for that since all the music is on the jump drive.

Only down side is the MDX sorts all the music by album instead of artist. I have about 100 artist and about 425 folders for the number of songs on each album. I haven't tried; but, changing the album name to the artist name might reduce the folders.

I know I you don't have HFL problems but your Bluetooth audio runs threw the hands free link system(that's why you phone has to be connected via Bluetooth to use the hands free link) and the hands free link system and the iPhone 5 just butt heads a lot so like I said it's either a hit or miss if it's going to work properly....you can always go have the HFL checked at your local Acura dealer to make sure it's working properly but to me it sounds like its a compatibility issue between the 2

I know this is an old thread - but I'm having the same issue in my '13 MDX (Tech).

Has anyone figured out the solution to this issue? I have one phone connected for HFL phone calls and another for bluetooth audio at the same time.

How does one switch the source for bluetooth audio from one phone to another? The "Phone Setup" -> "Search for next connected phone" only changes the phone connected for HFL telephone calls.

Thanks.
