Blind Spot Indicator survey

Blind Spot Indicator survey
For the past couple of months I have been paying attention to the BSI in the exterior rear view mirrors of SUVs. It calls my attention how I have yet to see an MDX with the indicators lighting while I pass them. That includes the 2014 also.
I see them on plenty RX, Mercedes, and Audis. I am curious in this group, how many of you have BSI? Are there so few Advance Packages out there?

I like having the BSI inside the vehicle instead of on the side view mirrors. I can see the BSI indicator being washed out if the sun or bright headlights are behind you if the BSI were in the side mirrors. Snow, ice, and/or foggy windows/side mirrors could also limit your view of the mirror mount BSI. I use my BSI as a triple check along with using my side/rear mirrors and looking over my shoulder. The solid and sometimes flashing yellow lights does not bother me at all, even at night. I don't rely on it as a first choice because it uses radar and it has A LOT of restrictions such as:
-takes about 2 seconds to see a vehicle in the BSI zone
- motorcycles are too small to be seen by the BSI
- may not work while towing a trailer
- may be affected by weather (snow, fog, heavy rain)
- if the speed difference between your MDX to the other vehicle you are passing is over 6 mph
I wouldn't purchase an Advance MDX just for BSI. I think the Adv model is worth ACC, CMBS, IDS, and cooled seats (you have the option to turn all this tech on/off).

I would much much prefer the blind spot CAMERA that would display on the navigation screen. The '13 Accord I have really makes me wish our MDX had it. Though visibility is quite good in both.

The BSI has picked up motorcycles that have passed me on either side. Of course this is on a nice day which is when you usually expect people to be riding. Haven't experienced any motorcycles passing at night.
I agree with Mr. Gold and I'm sure the manual states it, use the BSI along with traditional methods of verification before lane change.

How's the visibility with the camera at night with little to no light from street lights?
