Best convertible car seat

Hi all.
Looking for opinions and experience on what convertible car seats fit best in your mdx.

I bought a recaro pro sports but the anchor latches don't even reach the built in anchors, so the seat can't realistically be used rear facing...soon disappointed!

Thanks in advance.

We have the Recaro ProRide in our 2011 MDX and it fits just fine rear-facing. Are you sure you put the anchor straps in the right place? When you get the seat, it's outfitted for front-facing -- you have to take the straps out and route them through the front of the seat. Once you do that and bring out all the slack, there should be plenty of strap.

Hi
Do you mean take the anchor straps and run them down the middle/under the seat? I was trying to reach it around the seat and it doesn't have enough length...

Do you have the seat installed in the middle or one of the sides?

Nvm. I figured out what u mean by it being configured for front facing. Had to rethread the anchor bent to the front... Thanks for the advice! Just need to figure out how to make it slide so much when attached

I know this thread is a couple months old, but did you figure out how to get a tighter fit? It sometimes helps to actually put a knee in the carseat and push down and then pull the straps tight.

Did you put anything under the seat to protect the leather? We used a thin towel, but I'm nervous about what our Britax seat is doing to the leather. We plan on having our 2012 MDX for a very long time and I guess it will have the carseat and then a booster in it for several years to come so maybe I shouldn't worry too much? Kid safety is obviously more important than my pretty leather seat.

You can protect the leather seats by buying a seat protector mat from Babies R Us. Should be something like $18 or so. Some have the protector for the seat back too. We have this in both our MDX and the RL to protect the seat when our big heavy 3 yr old sits in his seat. I think I had a good experience with the Lionheart brand.

Good luck.

I'm actually shopping for a car seat myself. I noticed on an Amazon review that Recaro will actually ship you a free set of longer straps if you ask them. Maybe that will solve your problem?

Also for the protector, I am planning to just use the Britax that I used for my infant seat. It works very well.
