Annnnd my sunroof just blew out

Me and the famjam were driving on a freeway doing 100km/hr when all of a sudden *boom*! My sunroof exploded! Temps were just above freezing so wouldn't have been related to the elements. Wasn't driving under any road signs or over passes. Was passing a truck when it all went down but nothing flew off of the vehicle as my dash cam shows. Did some googling and turns out its more common than I would've thought. See if the stealership will warranty it.

Same thing happened to my son's 2007 TL last summer...no obvious cause but guessed a stone thrown up landed on it. Claimed through comprehensive insurance,(Ottawa) dealer charged about $1200. Car was returned by dealer with passenger seatbelt fully extended and twisted so it was difficult to retract, and glass left inside roof so it rolls around on turns. Things to look for before you accept the job! (Dealer denied responsibility).

Taking it to the dealer tom and see what they have to say about it. I've read of guys getting it covered and others not. They have treated me pretty good in the past so see what happens. Even just buying the replacement glass is gonna be over $500 not including the cost of 5 hrs labour.

So I went to the dealer today and talked to the service manager. He said since it was a touchy subject (rock could have caused a small chip and eventually led to the failure of the glass) and they won't be able to warranty it and told me to call Acura Canada and see what they could do. He did say that he would only charge me for the part and not the labor. New glass is $700 but still better than nothing. So I called Acura Canada and they just kinda gave me the run around talking about how they might have to see the car and do an investigation. But he was gonna call the service manager and discuss my case. Also asked him if I could just throw some gorilla tape over the glass for now and if that would hinder the investigation if it ever went that far. He said it might. Got nothing definitive out of our conversation.
