Acura Transmission problems
Hey guys, I need some advice.. my fiance and I just went out and bought an 05 Acura MDX with 92,000 miles on it everything checks out and runs great.. but now today she hopped in it.. and she cant shift it out of park.. she did complain about a week ago that it was starting to get a little harder to pull out of park but now it wont budge at all .. ? I've tried putting in the key into the gear release.. but it still wont budge out of park.. any ideas ? Please help.. were stranded and kinda screwed here.. thanks guys.
she doesnt use the parking brake at all.. and i was able to get it to come out of park.. and i checked my transmission fluid and its really low.. so i'm gonna put some more in there.. and see what happens.. i drove it home and as soon as i pulled it out of drive and tried sliding it from reverse to park.. it got stuck again.. and i couldnt pull the key out of the ignition. This is really becoming a pain in the *ss

Was anything spilled into the center console? If yes, there is a shift lock inside the center console that prevents the shifter from moving to park while the car is in motion. As well it functions to lock the car in park if your foot isn't on the brake. If you spilled something it could be sticking or it could have broken.
You mentioned you tried the key in the shift release, did that have ANY effect at all or did the shifter not budge? If it had no effect I'm thinking that it may be the lock for sure or a bigger problem. Also the transmission fluid being low is a BIG issue. How much did you have to add and what fluid did you add? On the dipstick there should be 2 holes, the fluid level should be between the two holes.

Maybe your shift linkage is seized ...
