Active damprer System

Hi, Picked up an 07 MDX sport and the "Check Active dmaper System" message shows up occasionally.
It is out of warranty. Not looking forward to getting ripped off by the stealership.
Is this a serious problem. Anybody had similar issues?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

There could be a problem with the struts. They have had a couple of fixes over the years including sensors and replacing the ADS control unit. It's expensive to fix. You should notice a huge difference in the way the MDX handles in sport mode when the light comes on. I've seen prices quoted from $900 to $2200 to fix the problem. Most I have seen are the front struts.

Thanks for the reply.
I bought this from a dealer. Could this problem be a safety issue?
Can bad tires cause this problem (tires are all worn to the limit and I have odered new tires) and if there is a problem with the strut or the sensor, shouldn't the message be coming on all the time?
Sorry for so many questions - I'm trying to find all I can quickly.

Just ask them how much it would be to fix (also see what the problem really is) & if you can work out a deal between that and the worn out tires

I don't think the tires would cause this problem. People have reported the problem when the weather is real damp outside at the start. Then it gets worse and happens more and more. This is a problem with the system and I would get it back to the dealer where I purchased it from at once. Call and talk to the service manager and salesman. I can tell you they have seen this many times before.

I had it done at the White Bear Acura.
Service was very nice.
They ended up replacing both front struts. I also had them replace the front brake pads and resurface the rotors and the total cost was about $1500.

why not pay the check out time to be certain of what the problem could be.
and stealership what stealership. one pays the money for the confinece itll be done right and if the problem comes back you have a year or 30k? mile warranty. cant beat that even if you tried. no wait mama joes repair shop who uses salvaged parts. good luck on the warranty or the experienced techs

I don't notice a difference at all in my 2009. Except the light in the switch goes on/off...

Agree.

ADS light is ON/OFF depending on the weather but no difference on handling.
