I started noticing a whining sound when stepping on the accelerator from a stop in our 2012 MDX. We have 39k miles on it.

Had to take it in for an inspection so I had the dealership look at it. It was the power stearing pump and they replaced it under warranty.

Has anyone else had other issues with their 2012 MDX's? I like the vehicle, but the gas mileage has seemed to decrease over the past 3 years. About the best we are getting is 17 mpg.

 

I just picked up a 2011 MDX CPO about a month ago. And up until a week ago, I've noticed this whining/squeak sound coming from accelerating, or when placed in drive.

It goes quiet when placed in park, but very small hint of noise from passenger side of the engine bay. If your dealer diagnosed it as the power steering pump, I better take mine in as well.

I'm at 37k miles right now, and just finished taking it in twice for warranty work, but this is not good news for a luxury suv to have a power steering pump fail. I thought it might have been a bearing or idler pulley but I tested out the wheel turning and sure enough the noise was noticeable.

My TL had a similar issue but that was around 100k miles.

 

I have a 2010 mdx with 60,000 miles and have a intermittent power steering whine. It's more noticeable when it's cold outside and after coming off of highway. Does anyone else have this problem.
