As I consider selling my 12 Advance for a 17 Hybrid, is there a way to download all of the music my wife has burned to the HD, and then transfer to the new vehicle? Acura service says no. Most of the CDs were from the library etc, and not part of a personal collection. On my BMW I just use a external USB

 

The 40GB MDX hard drive is 2.5" size exactly like what you find in a laptop. The hard drive is used for music, phone data, and Navi maps. Some of us considered upgraded to a larger size drive or even SSD for more music capacity; but, give it up since it was just easier just to use a larger USB stick instead. You will need to remove the drive to access the data. I don't think anyone has tried to replace/remove the hard drive. I figure there isn't any security or encryption on the hard drive since the MDX doesn't have an operating system decipher the extra data. Even if you did remove the drive, I'm not 100% sure if you can access the data when you connect to your home computer.
